Ghosting

(See bottom picture) While camping at Silver Lake State Park, it was campfire popcorn time. This 3 second time exposure shows a cozy campfile with a "ghost-like" image of Debbie at the fire doing the first batch of popcorn.

Latest Trip
Destination Texas

We have completed our trip to visit Anji, Wayne and grandboys in Texas.
This is our third time there, so we are framilar with the area. The RV was in full use. It towed beautifully as we averaged 15.7 MPG. With a planned two day travel time, we slept one night going and one night returning in an interstate rest area.

When destinated we were fortunate to find an inexpensive RV park off I-35 with full hookups. The five day visit was relaxing as we visited the Monroes, enjoyed the warm sunshine and explored the area.

Grandma and grandpa Monroe gave us all some down home hospitality at their place where we did this group shot.

We learned that the grandboy's aunt Susie has a new cousin coming soon.

No visit to the rural Texan "Hill Country" is complete without stopping at the "Salt Lick" and the "Railroad Bar-B-Q" outside of the state capital of Texas, Austin. Rustic with down home friendly service the aromas outside are enough to get you ready to loosen the belts for some great "country fixin's".

No doubt the best Bar-B-Q's around.

A great place to live having the Texan ranch life-style.
The rural Texan Hill Country has some of the most affordable country side housing available anywhere. Still relatively close to Austin, all styles and sizes of Texan ranches are found. If one likes warm weather, peace and quiet, and some elbow room between neighbors, yet close to civilization, then this is a great location to call home. The Austin Texas area having low unemployment, affordable housing and solid economic growth without a doubt was a good choice for Anji and her family.

Patoka Lake State Park

Surrounded by National Forest Land this park in southern Indiana is huge. (See top left photos) Having the largest inland lake in Indiana, this is a popular park. There are over 600 campsites, 20 miles of bike trails, fishing, dense forests, unusual geology, paved boat launches and interresting rolling hills, this is a definitely a park we will return to again. Even with so many people visiting this park it retains it's serene, and natural setting. Miles from any town, a clear evening offers a spectacular star filled sky.

Silver Lake State Park

Our third visit here, this state park offers over 2000 acres of sand dunes, Lake Michigan beach front and beautiful Silver Lake. (See top right photos) Everyone loves this sand, from young to old. We were lucky on this visit to setup the RV on a site near the lake. The boundary from the west shore of Silver Lake to Lake Michigan is about 1 mile of sand dunes. From on top of a surrounding sand dune, it doesn't appear as wide as it is. We always enjoyed watching the "off the roaders" engage the dunes with their machines. The campgrounds are average and being just off a major road takes away from the natural settings.
