Wisconsin Storytelling Get-Together

A unique, annual opportunity for professional, intermediate and beginning storytellers to network and enjoy listening, telling and swapping tales.

The day's events:

Bring a bag lunch. We'll provide coffee and tea.

Opening Olio
The olio is a sampling of stories from Wisconsin's guilds to start our day and set the mood.

Story Swapping
Three periods of swap choices for everyone to trade tales. The swap facilitator will set the tone by telling the first story and moderating the session. Come to tell or come to listen. Tellers are requested to keep their offerings to 5-10 minutes so everyone will have time to participate.

1ST SWAP: 1:30pm-2:30pm
I'm Not Scared: Halloween Tales
Knights of Old: Medieval Tales
Smart Tales: Tales of Wisdom
With a Wing and a Song: Bird Tales

BREAK: 2:30pm-3:00pm

2ND SWAP: 3:00pm-4:00pm
Leaping Lollipops: Preschool Tales
Caravan of Tales: Tales from the Middle East
Sunset of Our Lives: Tales of Aging
Against the Wind: Hard Times, Good Tales

3RD SWAP: 4:15pm-5:15pm
Story Beat: Say It and Play It
Soldier, Soldier: Images of War and Peace
Guardians and Helpers: Stories of Angels
Off the Cuff: Improv

Vegetarian lasagna, salad, French bread, desserts ... and lots of conversation

Evening Storytelling Concert
A showcase of stories from tellers representing the cream of Wisconsin storytelling. Apply early if you are interested in telling in the concert.

From North on Highway 45, exit on Washington Street (Highway 33), turn right (west), and follow to University Drive. Turn left (south) at the Mobil gas station and continue to campus.

From South on Highway 45, exit on Washington Street (Highway 33), turn left (west), and follow to University Drive. Turn left (south) at the Mobil gas station and continue to campus.

From East on Highway 33, follow Highway 33 (Washington Street) through town to University Drive. (Watch for huge American flag in the distance.) Turn left (south) at the Mobil station just before the flag, and continue to the campus.

From West on Highway 33, follow Highway 33 (Washington Street) to University Drive (after the second set of lights) and turn right (south) at the Mobil gas station. Continue to the campus.

What will it be like?
It's like "Story Heaven"—you get to tell and you get to listen!
