Genkai V Guide
Once you hit level 66, a new quest from Maat opens up. This quest is called Shattering Stars. Maat wants you to find a White Mage Testimony and trade it to him.
White Mage Testimony is RareEx, and dropped by white mage type beastmen with level ranges starting from mid-60s through mid-80s. Beastmen with "True Sight" or "True Sound" ability have the tendency to have a much higher drop rate. Below are the mobs that drop this item:
Most likely you will end up with the testimony from Gustav Tunnel, due to the fact that goblin camp is easily accessible and that camp is right in between two NM pop spots (Bune and Wyvernpoacher). In addition, this is a popular XP party camp from level 56 to 60, so it is possible that you could already have that testimony. There are 2 NM on this list that have a reported 100% drop rate on the testimony but both are rare spawns.
Once you get the testimony, do not go directly back to Maat. It is time to prepare and be ready to spend some good money on gear and meds. There are two possible methods on beating Maat. Either way, your subjob will be disabled. When you are prepared, trade the testimony to Maat. He will give you a confirmation message. Answer yes and you are sent to Balgas Dias. Now trade the testimony to the Burning Circle. This fight is done solo with a 10 minute time limit. At the 8 minute mark, Maat will start spamming Asuran Fists. If you attained the win condition, Maat will give a public concession speech and hand you an Instant Warp Scroll. If you lose, you will have to find another testimony and try again.
"Curing til he gives up"
This is the most popular and easier of the two methods. All you need to do is to cap that evasion skill, you can simply do spiders in Boyhada Tree at the zoneline until your evasion cap, which is 190 at level 70. You can practice this strategy on the spiders as long you hit flash when its about to use Sickle Sash.
Now its time to purchase the gear. Your AF hat and gloves will not do any good for this showdown. Instead try to find headgear and handgear that have VIT+ or Evasion bonus. There are multiple options out there to choose from for all price ranges. You must use the AF body, pants, and feet - there are no exceptions. For rings, anything with DEF bonus is a must. Phalanx Rings and/or Aegis Rings should be used. For Earrings, AGI+ or Evasion bonuses are strongly suggested. Dodge, Drone, Elusive, or Bat Earrings are recommended. If you use Bat Earrings, you will need to get some blinding potions. Fortune Egg or Happy Egg should be in your Ammo slot if you have them. For the waist, you will need Survival Belt or Druids Rope. For neck, Spirit Torque, Evasion Torque, or Medieval Collar should be used. Your weapon should be Earth Staff or Terra Staff.
Now its time for meds. Get all gobbiebag quests done if you haven't already. A lot of the meds will not stack. You will need 2 Periskos au Lait, this will be your regen drink, and will last a good chunk of the fight. You will need about 5 Yagudo Drinks for your MP regen. You should purchase Vile Exlir and Vile Exlir +1. If you used bat earrings, you will need 3 Blinding Potions. The food should be Tavnazian Taco, Tavnazian Salad, or Shallops Tropicale (standard high-level melee defense food). Bring a stack of echo drops and 3-5 remedies. The remainder of your inventory should be filled with as many Hi-Potions as you can get. Macro everything including Cure 2 and Cure 3. If you cannot get the vile elxirs, use muslums.
Upon entering the BCNM, eat your food, use Blinding Potion, cast your prefight buffs and rest to full mp. Now use your Regen and Refresh Drinks, approach Maat, and pull him with paralyze. If he paralyzes you, hit your Remedy macro. If he silences you, hit your Echo Drops Macro. Hit the Refresh Drink macro when your refresh drink runs out, likewise for Regen Drink. Now the object is to use Cure 2 and Cure 3 until he gives up. Vile Exlirs are for emergencies as they are slow casting. If you are still running low on mp, use Hi-Potions. Do not cure status ailments except for paralyze and silence, and do not recast buffs as they are slow casting spells and have higher chance of being interrupted. Muslums restore MP, are instant cast, and instant recast.
The win condition is "how much damage that you can take". This amount is always random, but can range from 3000 to 6000.
"Hexa-striking"
If you always wanted to beat the living crap out of Maat, here is your chance. Get your club skill capped (233 is cap at Level 70), the best place to do this is Boyhada Tree off Steelshells. This is where its nice to have a ninja subjob so you can have dual wield darksteel mauls. Capping evasion is suggested as well. Do not worry about your shield skill although the higher the skill is, the better off you are.
For gear, anything with attack+ and accuracy+ is a must. Darksteel Maul is your weapon, Strike Shield or Viking Shield is your shield. Phalanx Rings should be used. Green Beret or Optical Hat should be your headgear. You will need all other pieces of your AF or Blessed Gear (although gloves may be replaced with Battle Gloves). Spectacles should be your neckpiece, but if you cannot afford it you may use Tiger Stole. For waist, equip Life Belt. Earrings should be Merman Earrings or Spike Earrings. In addition you will need Opo-opo Necklace.
For meds, you will need Echo Drops and Remedies. You will need several Periskos au Lait and Yagudo Drinks. You will need 4 Sleeping Potions, and 1 Icarus Wing. For food use Coeurl Sub. The remainder of the inventory should be filled with Hi-Potions. 3 stacks of Muslums should be purchased.
Upon entering BCNM, cast prefight buffs and use food, then rest to full. Now equip Opo-opo Necklace and sleep to 100% TP. Equip your other neckgear, cast Haste, use drinks, run up to Maat, engage, Diaga, Dia 2, and use Hexastrike once his stoneskin is gone. This should get him to use Benediction. If not just keep wailing away until he does (which should be shortly). When he uses Benediction, pound another Hexa-strike if you have the TP, use Wing, and Hexa-strike again. If he readies a weaponskill, Flash him. He will eventually give up.
(Note you might want to trial run this on the ENM60 Pulling Your Strings. Replace Hexa-Strike with True Strike, ignore the Opo-opo Necklace and Sleeping Potions, and use your AF along with 2 spike earrings, Tiger Stole, and have Time Hammer as weapon. If you can win this ENM, you should be able to beat Maat.)
