The early teens - your first crack at partying

Once you have hit the point where solo EXP gain is no longer an option, you will have to join parties for your EXP.  For almost all jobs, this usually happen in the early teens.  This will take money and a little different approach than in the past.  It will cost you a lot of gil to EXP, which can range from food cost to cost of meds.  You will spend more gil for these needs as you get higher in level.  During this phase, you will find a mix of novice and advanced players.  You can't tell them apart by looking at them, their skill will define the type of player you got.  Mages need to keep in mind that tanks do not hold hate very well at this point, so if possible please find some food with -enmity effect (Roast Mushrooms are excellent).

Zone Level Range PT Size Mob(s) Notes

La Thiene Plateau (lake)

8-10

6

Thickshell

2nd tier Goblin

Beware of Water Elementals that pop occasionally.

King Ranperre's Tomb (I-6)

10-12

6

Rock Eater

Highly recommended for manaburn/arrowburn only.  Rock Eaters are aggressive in this zone.  They do drop chest keys and an item that sells for 20k at the Auction House.

King Ranperre's Tomb (I-6)

10-11

6

Grave Bat

Goblin (2nd tier)

Near the Rock Eaters there are mobs more for conventional party setups.  Everything aggros down here.  Moving party works best down here.

Valkrum Dunes (Konschtat side)

10-13

6

Hill Lizard

Night Bats

Sand Bats

12: Star Bat

12: Goblin Ambusher

12: Goblin Butcher

12: Goblin Tinkerer

Your emphasis at first is the lizard.  There is nothing you can do about their Baleful Gaze attack (though mages can try to keep their back to lizard if at all possible).  Everyone needs antidotes for their lethal poison.  As you get higher in level, you can start pulling some of the weaker goblins.  Beware of that rare Fire Elemental that spawns at one of the campfires!

Gusgen Mines 10-13 6 Skeleton Warrior Recommended if you got 2 or more monks in your party, as they will rip skeletons right up.  You will need to pull them to a camp far enough away so you won't aggro others on low health.  Blood saber is an AOE drain attack that hits everyone in range, not just party members.

Carpenters Landing (zone from Northern San d'Oria)

11-15

6

Beady Beetle

13: Orc

13: Flytrap

13: Bat

14: Land Pugil?

Camp on the dock.  Only Bats/Bombs/Orcs aggro.  Orcs are RNG/DRK/DRG type.  EXP goes down starting at 16.

Buburimu Peninsula (outpost)

10-13

6

Mandragora

Rarab

12: Goblin Ambusher

12: Goblin Butcher

12: Goblin Tinkerer

Mages will need to stay as far away from the Mandragora if possible, due to their AOE sleep attack that hits anyone in its huge range, whether or not you are in that party.

Maze of Shrakarmi (west) 11-15 6 Maze Maker Same setup as Rock Eaters, except these mobs are passive and linking.  Try to stick to the ones that pop in the tunnels to reduce the chance of having uninvited goblins and ghouls.
Valkrum Dunes (J-6, J-8) 12-15 6 Snipper Do not attempt without a black mage in your party.  There are couple good snipper areas you can set up camp.  Beware of goblin and ghouls that may pass by, with stronger mobs near J-8 camp.

Meriphutaund Mountains (H-6, outpost)

12-15

6

Hill Lizard

14: Stag Beetle

Again, you will need antidotes and a good black mage.  The best camp is near the outpost which will require a trip across the zone.  It is required for everyone to make an investment in silent oils (boggarts/bogy) and prism powders (goblins/yagudo) if you make the trip.  Beastmen occasionally have control of this region, so make some investment in reraisers as well.

La Thiene Plateau

Konschtat Highlands

Tahrongi Canyon

12-15

6

Poltergeist

The best spot for the Poltergeist is the area around the crags.  These must be pulled with ranged weapons as they aggro to magic.  They do not have great evasion compared to beetles, but they have a few more hit points and an AOE stun weaponskill that means mages must stay back.

Jugner Forest

13-15

6

Stag Beetle

Goblin Butcher

Goblin Ambusher

Goblin Tinkerer

Orcish Stonelauncher

Orcish Grunt

Orcish Neckchopper

14: Screamer

The best spot is near the Batallia Downs zone or the outpost.  Again you will need both silent oils (undead, treants) and prism powders (orcs, goblins, tigers) to reach the area.  If beastmen have control, you will need reraisers.
