Enemies
There are several different types of enemies in both the overworld and
underworld. Most creatures are localized, however, and do not exist
in both overworld and underworld conditions.
Overworld Enemies
-
Tektite. Spiders that jump. Blue ones jump seldom, but the
red ones jump a lot and are a nuisance. They're easy to kill.
-
Octoroks. An octopus that lives above ground. They spit rocks
at Link. The blue ones are stronger than the red ones.
-
Peahat. An flowerfly that flutters around all over the place.
It can only be killed when it is standing still.
-

Leever. They live in the desert and come out from under. The
blue ones are stronger than the red ones, but neither has that much attacking
power.
-
Armos. An knight that is a statue. He moves and attacks only
when touch. Armos have average attacking power.
-

Moblin. A spiked bulldog that throws spears. Slightly stronger
than Armos, he lives in the forests.
-
Zola. A half-fish, half-woman creature who lives in the lakes and
oceans and spit fireballs that can only be blocked by the magical shield.
Can only be wiped out by arrows or when Link is at full power.
-
Ghini. The word used for ghost. They live in the graveyard.
The ones from the tombstones can't be killed, but they disappear when
the one you start off with gets killed.
-
Lynel. Centaurs that are part-man, part-horse with throwing swords
that live near the Death Mountain (South Palace) area.
Underworld Enemies
These are the underworld enemies. To know the boss of an particular
level in a labyrinth, jump to this table.
-
Zol and
Gel. The weakest monsters. Zol means "Jellyblob" and
Gel is a miniature. Zol becomes two Gels when hit by the white sword;
the magical sword kills Zol completely.
-
Rope. The snakes that live underground. They're quick, but
not powerful.
-
Stalfos. A skeleton with swords in each hand. Though weak in
the first quest, these creatures throw swords in the second quest!
-
Vire and
Keese. Vires hop around and when hit with the white sword,
they become two Keeses. Keeses are everywhere, including passageways.
Vires are completely destroyed when hit by the magical sword. Neither
are that strong.
-
Wallmaster. A evil hand that comes out from the wall. If it
catches you, it takes you back to the beginning of the labyrinth.
-
Moldorm. A big worm. It gets smaller as it gets hit.
Not very strong.
-
Lanmola. A centipede. Though faster than the Moldorm, he gets
smaller as it gets attacked.
-
Goriya. A bulldog that throws boomerangs. Goriyas have average
power.
-
Darknut. A knight that repels anything up front, and can only be
damaged from behind, from the side, or with bombs. Though slow, the
blue ones are very powerful.
-
Pols Voice. A enemy with big ears and hops around. Can only
be eliminated by the arrow.
-
Like Like. A tube-like monster that eats up magic shields unless
you immediately use the whistle or kill quickly when caught.
-
Gibdo. A mummy that is very quick and strong.
-
Wizzrobe. An wizard that moves around and casts spells that can only
be repelled by the magic shield.
-
Patra. They attack in groups in two types -- narrow and wide.
The inner one can only be killed when all the outer ones have been eliminated.
-
Bubble. Though fast, the Bubble does not deal damage, nor it can
be killed. The red one takes away your sword for a few seconds, but
getting hit by the blue one only gives it back.
-
Aquamentus. Aquamentus is a part-dragon, part-unicorn that
throws beams.
-
Dodongo. An rhino that hates smoke and can only be killed
by bombs. (Two, as a matter of fact.)
-
Manhandla. A man-eating flower that throws fire, and is faster as
it loses pedals. Though anything works against this creature, the
best bet is to use bombs. Sometimes a single bomb will kill Manhandla
when place correctly.
-

Gleeok. A dragon with 2-4 heads and spits out beams like any other
dragon. Heads fly off when they're cut off, but you can't do much
about them.
-

Digdogger. Land urchins that shrivel up when noise is used.
Once the whistle is used, anything can be used against them. You
only need to kill one offspring to kill the whole thing.
-

Gohma. A land-based crab that can only be killed by the arrow to
the eye. Gohmas also throw beams at Link that cannot be blocked by
anything (not even the magic shield).
-

Ganon. The head of all bosses. He has the Triforce Power and
is very tough. The only way to destroy Ganon is the Magical Sword
and Silver Arrow. Though invisible, the fire balls Ganon will throw
will tell where he is at, aiding Link to attack when Ganon appears.
