Home Guitars

I have a very diverse interest in music according to the majority of my friends and, like most people, I think it depends on the mood that I'm in.  Most of the time, I prefer a mix of Blues, Heavy Metal/Rock, and 'Classic Rock', although it's hard for me to think of it as 'classic' since it's what I listened to while in high school and college.

As far as equipment, I have my original 1974 Fender Stratocaster, a 1960's reissue sunburst Strat, DeArmond M-77T - modified with the stock DeArmond neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan Firebird bridge pickup (VERY sensitive pickup), Squier Double Fat Telecaster Deluxe, Yamaha 12-string acoustic and a Rickenbacker three-pickup with modified custom electronics 12-string on order.  My future wish list is down to a Gibson Les Paul and an actual  Gretsch Duo Jet.  Click here to see photos of some of my guitars and amplifier.

For "power", I have a 100-watt Fender Twin Amp Pro amplifier, a Sunn 412 speaker cabinet (total of six 12-inch speakers) and a Sunn 215 (two 15-inch speakers) with a Marshall Power Brake so I don't disturb my neighbors and a Hammond Leslie with a built-in 60-watt amplifier (on loan from my brother).  For "effects" I have a Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker and Distortion; a Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer, DigiTech DSP 16 Digital Signal Processor, and a Cry Baby Wah pedal.  I also have a Boss (Roland) GT-3 Guitar Effects Processor (NOTE:  This is an expensive piece of equipment and, when it quits, you lose ALL your effects so, I personally recommend separate pedals.  Additionally, I've been out $150 in repairs and this piece of junk STILL only works for about five minutes at a time).

If you're in the market for musical instruments or supplies, I would urge you to check out Player's Music in Hurst, Texas.  They're a little more than Guitar Center or Mars but, they will work with you, are REALLY into music, support their products, and are great with guitar repair.  Odd thing is, I found out about Player's when the Guitar Center people couldn't do a fairly simple fix on my vintage strat and sent me to them!

Local (Dallas-Fort Worth) groups I would strongly recommend:
Me And My Monkey (If you like the Beatles, you'll LOVE these guys!)
Smart Like Einstein (if they get back together....)
Smart Like Einstein mp3 audio files courtesty of Jeremy Peacock
and with the permission of Smart Like Einstein
Buddy Whittington  (When he's not touring with John Mayall)
