The 1999 Mopar Nationals

This was the first time that I had ever been to the Mopar Nationals and I am *SO* glad that I finally made it !! For all of you fellow Mopar nuts that couldn't make it at the last minute , you certainly missed out !
There was much racing and showing at the track , along with a pant-load of parts and things in the swap meet area . The car corral featured some heavy hitters demanding hefty prices , like two different factory HEMI Darts , one asking $39k and the other , fully documented Hurst car asking over $69K !!
The fun didn't end at the end of each day at the track ! The best part , at least for some ,was the nightly cruising on Brice Road in Columbus , or is it actually in Reynoldsburg ? ANYWAY , it was the best gathering of Mopars I have seen in one place in my entire life ; it was like Xanadu !
There were literally thousands of people lining Brice Road each night , all having a great time . There were also quite a few smokey burnouts on Brice Road that weekend and the local law enforcement officials , although letting some things go , definitely put a damper on things on Saturday night . The mayor had twice the amount of officers on duty as there are normally and they started to crack down . The whole cruise was shut down by the cops around 10:30PM for the most stupid reason : Apparently , a woman driving through the frenzy of Mopars had her vehicle splashed with a bit of water by a couple of Mopar party-goers (They would throw water in the street to antagonize people to do burnouts) and she didn't take too kindly to that . She got out of her car , leaving it parked in the middle of the street , and decided to run her mouth a bit . When the officers approached and asked her to move her car ,she refused and was promptly arrested . At that point , there was a large crowd gathered in the street to watch , and the officers decided at that point to shut down the whole night ! It sucked hard !
