EVERY CAN COUNTS

Recycling Program Benefits Habitat For Humanity Families

The Aluminum Cans Build Habitat For Humanity Houses Program is up and running in Clarksville, TN, through the continuous dedication and hard work of volunteers, Habitat supporters, businesses, churches, Boy Scout troups, Girl Scout troups, etc. This program was initiated by Habitat For Humanity of Montgomery County, TN, Inc., then soon shared Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Bi-County Solid Waste Management had a dumpster made that resembles a house. This container is located in Veterans' Plaza and has become a local drop-off point for all Montgomery County residents. So far we have collected over 5,000 pounds of aluminum cans. Bi-County gives us the best price they can find on the market and does not take any of the proceeds.

Our objects are to make Montgomery County citizens aware of recycling, and to set a good example for our youth on how to be enviornmentally and socially responsible as they help the community and Habitat families through their efforts. Habitat has applied this year for a grant through theAluminum Association. The grants range from $5,000 to $25,000. For more information contact Diana Ward
