Dear Parents, Tonight is our School committee meeting at 6:00 in Room 108.  Budget concerns will be on the agenda. 

Last Thursday night 24 of our students worked very hard at the Lakeland Math Meet.  We met our goal, all of the students received points.

What a fantastic Halloween Party we had last Friday night.  Many thanks go out to Mrs. Ryan for chairing the Halloween Party and all of her helpers, and Mrs. Cvetan and Mrs. Delahunt for helping the 8th grade with their spectacular haunted house and silent auction.

 A fantastic Grandparent Day was had by all.  What a tremendous turnout and so many happy faces.   Students enjoyed showing their visitors their room and their work.  Grandparents were very impressed with the school and the staff.

Next Wednesday is Grandparent Day.  This event seems to be growing and we love to host this.  Grandparents were calling in the summer to make sure they put it on their calendar, this is fantastic.  Parents, last week a form went home asking who would be attending this event.  Please see that this form is returned to the office ASAP.

celebration today.  We would like to thank Milly Pungercar, sister of Laura Ehrenreich, who

graduated from Holy Name School in 1961, for speaking to our students about what it was

like 48 years ago.

Dear Parents,

The carnival was a huge success and so many happy faces everywhere from the games in the gym to the dunk tank.  Thanks to Mr. Witkauskas, Mr. Scharenbroch, and Mr. Lubbers for being in the dunk tank.  Thanks also to the Stanskas family, Mrs. Welsch for chairing and Home & School for sponsoring this event and all of the volunteers who helped in the kitchen and all of the games from set-up to tear down.  Fun was had by all!!

We had three people come forward to be on the School Committee for the next three years.  They are Michael Grubich, Jim Nussberger, and John Revelis.  There are three openings.  Therefore there will not be an election and all three candidates are continuing on in being a member of the School Committee.  I would like to thank them for being a part of this committee.

There is a correction that needs to be stated concerning the elections for School committee members.  The application deadline was correct, May 6th, but the elections will be held in June according to the by-laws.  The dates are June 6th and 7th in both parishes.

Dear Parents,

For those parents and students who were not able to see the Holy Family play, “Robin Hood”, you missed it.  The play received rave reviews both nights.  I know two of my grandchildren saw it and are still talking about it.  Many thanks go to Mrs. Tracy Waldhart and Mrs. Fetterer for their countless hours put into this production.  The students did an outstanding job.

Dear Parents,

In today’s correspondence there is a parent letter/order form for SummerSkills workbooks.  We had these workbooks available in the past.  If you feel your child would benefit with a refresher workbook over the summer please order and send back to the office.  They work on math skills from Pre-K thru Algebra, Language Arts review for grades Pre-K thru 7th, Spanish review for middle school, and keyboarding skills for grades 3-6.

            Last Tuesday evening was our Athletic Banquet.  The following students were recognized:  7th & 8th grade boys:  Coaches Award: Ben Fehrman; Defense, Trevor Damkot; 3 All Stars were recognized, Kevin Lang, Travis Waibel and Dan Campion with the MVP :  Dan Campion;    7th & 8th grade girls: Individual medals, the Roosevelt, were given, with the heart award given to Kaley Meicher;  5th & 6th grade boys: Defense: Mitch Nussberger; Most Improved: Joe Brotz; MVPS: Lucas Wyrembeck & Andrew Hoey;  5th & 6th grade girls: Coaches award: Katie Revelis; MVP: Emma Gentine and  all of the players received a copy of values letter sent to them this past year from a different coach.

Where do I begin to comment on Shenanigans?  The night itself left me overwhelmed by your commitment to Catholic education.  First of all everyone seemed to have a great time.  Starting with Thursday evening with the set-up, the parents and students were working non-stop in setting and transforming our Auditorium and gym into a night of Shenanigans.

Today, mid-quarters are coming home.  Please go over these with your children and discuss how we can maintain or improve certain areas. 

Remember this week and next week IOWA Basic Testing is going on in grades 3, 5, & 7.  Continue to see that the students are well rested and have a good breakfast.  It might help for you to reinforce to your children the idea of checking over their work before closing their test booklet.

Tonight is our School committee meeting at 6:00 in Room 108.  Faith in our Future Capital Campaign will be discussed tonight. 

This past weekend there was plenty of basketball going on.  Congratulations to the 7/8th grade boys team for taking 3rd in their own tournament.  They all played so well to obtain that position.  I was certainly proud of all of them.

We are gearing up for another basketball tournament weekend.  Our 7th & 8th grade boys will be playing at 4:00 on Thursday.   Thursday will also be our pep rally at 2:30 in the gym.  Come and support our team and cheer them on.  There will be basketball games Thursday thru Sunday.  Concessions will be available so come for lunch Saturday and Sunday.

We really did enjoy Catholic Schools week with the dress up days and many activities.  I hope your children shared some of these happenings.  Thanks to our kitchen staff again for providing such a delicious parent appreciation lunch.  The parents present really did enjoy it.  All great comments were heard that day.

We are in the midst of Catholic Schools Week, as if you did not realize.  Monday, we had our all school silent readings in the morning and at night we were together with the families at Blue Harbor.  The students were surely excited.  Tuesday was parent appreciation lunch and there was such a great turnout for this.

The weather seems almost spring like after last week.  It is good to be back and into finishing up 2nd quarter.  The question on many people’s minds now is when are we making up our snow day.  We need to make up one day.  February 6th was scheduled as an off day because of conferences on Tuesday night.  We plan to have school on Friday, Feb. 6th until 1:10 PM.

Friday, the 2nd mid-quarter ends.  Please make sure all of your child’s work is handed in.  Grades 1 thru 8 will all be receiving Mid-quarters next Wednesday in correspondence.

Many thanks to those who brought food items in for the Student Council Food Drive.  715 items were collected.  Mrs. Rankin’s 3rd grade won the free recess day for this event, they brought in 231 food items.  WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!

Last Thursday night 32 of our students worked very hard at the Lakeland Math Meet.  We met our goal, all of the students received points.  In addition to that Ben Fehrman placed 5th out of 416. We had two teams be in the top 7.

Dear Parents,

WOW!! STUPENDOUS! AWE-INSPIRING!!  FANTASTIC!!!  WAY OVER THE TOP!!!! Are a few of the phrases that sum up Anna Tarnowski’s fund drive.  The blood center reported 81 donors with 65 units of blood collected.  This was over 20 donors more than they had expected.  They were very pleased.  The silent auction had 100 items up for bid.

Tomorrow is the long awaited Blood Drive, brat fry, and silent auction for Anna Tarnowski.  The time is from 2:00 until 7:00.  We have over 80 items for the silent auction. People have been so generous.  There are Packer, Bucks, and Admiral tickets; Sheboygan Symphony and Milwaukee Symphony tickets; limo service; and a gas grill just to name a few items.

Last Sunday the sixth graders from Holy Family School were walking in the Crop Walk.  This is truly an ecumenical outing.  Many different Churches in Sheboygan are represented and walking for the same purpose, helping those in need.  You should be proud of all of our participants in this event.  Thanks to everyone involved.  It was a beautiful day.

What a gorgeous weekend we were able to enjoy.  It does not get much better than that.  Thursday the staff was able to take a nature hike and discuss various ways to handle stress.  Friday in Milwaukee at the Catholic Educator’s conference, Holy Family School was recognized as being exemplary in Mission, Community, and Climate.
