The Mission and Outreach Committee lifts up the FEEDING PROGRAM
in Harare, Zimbabwe, A project of the Balm in Gilead Ministry

During his visit to Zimbabwe last summer, Rev. Abiot Moyo, president of the Balm in Gilead Ministry was asked to sponsor a feeding program. An old farm house was given by the municipality of Harare to operate the ministry. 60 orphaned children were chosen to participate and Rev. Abiot has committed to feed them through the new food program; he is going on faith and prayer that they will be able to raise several hundred dollars a week for this effort.
This program provides the 60 children with both tuition and one meal a day. Some of the orphans walk 10 miles to school on empty stomachs; there are no school buses in Zimbabwe! Paying tuition is impossible for most of the orphans; by the 11th grade most drop out and never graduate from high school.
The mission plate offering through the end of 2009 will go to the BigM for the Feeding Program. Going forward into 2010 one-half of all the mission plate offerings will go to the Feeding Program.
