The Imperial Herald (for Month of the Rat, 1128)
Greeting and Welcome to the most revered and magnificent province in all the Empire: the Imperial province of Otosan Uchi.
For nearly seventy years, the Golden City of the Emperor has been my home and it is my honor as the Emperor Hantei 39th's Official Court Advisor to invite you to the grand celebrations which are to be held throughout the cold winter months. Time passes so quickly in our wondrous realm, and the seasons change as events unfold. Let us spend time in the company of others that we may share in the culture and history of each year, as we celebrate beneath the loving wisdom of the Sun Mother, and in the presence of the noble lineage of her honorable Youngest Son.
The Emperor has spent many months traveling through his lands, from the shores of Chrysanthemum Petal Lake in the West, to the forests of Kitsune Mori in the South, to Kyuden Asako in the North, and finally returning to the Light of the East, the capital itself. He has met the daimyos and champions of each of his loyal clans and has decided, in his great wisdom and magnificence, to winter within the glorious palace of his noble family: Kyuden Seppun. Located in the Mountains of Regret, just north of the capital city, the ancestral home of the Seppun has opened its gates to the Court of the Shining Prince and to you.
The Floating Court of the Heavens, the wonders of the Jade Tear, the Emperor's personal troupe of Kakita Artisans, and the excitement of the Winter's Tournament await you. His Surpassing Excellence anticipates your arrival and I, his Mistress of Ceremonies, have prepared the palace for your stay.
Let games of Winter begin!

1127 Year of the Rooster
All travellers are warned about using roads near the City of the Rich Frog.
A treacherous assassination at the City of the Rich Frog has plunged the Unicorn and Lion clans into a border war. Many refugees from the City have travelled downriver or fled over land towards the relative safety of Dragon or Scorpion lands. The imperial roads are being more intensely watched by the Legions, as some bandits are taking advantage of the misfortune of the refugees to abuse and pillage them.
All those in need of aid should visit the imperial waystations, where local messengers will serve as liaisons with imperial guardsmen.
Yours in haste,
Miya Katsu
