My father, Thomas Griffith, Sr., has been in the hospital now for one month. He has undergone abdominal surgery to repair a hole in his abdomen from a previous surgery. The surgery went well and he is on his way to a full recovery, but he is unable to keep food down at this point. Doctors say that this is probably due to a "lazy colon" but I ask for prayers from everyone on his behalf. My dad is a member of the church. There is also some concern that he may have developed a staph infection.

I would greatly appreciate the prayers of everyone who reads this message especially the members of God's church.

Many thanks,

Tom Griffith, Minister
ICG - DFW

I think I updated the US contact list a few weeks ago to say Betty had “miraculously” come out of the coma. A lot has happened since. Betty required further surgery after hospital staff doctors “stuffed up” and the visiting surgeon who did the original bowel cancer surgery stumbled across her in critical care three weeks ago while seeing to another patient. The staff doctors had still given her up for dead. The surgeon took over her case again and successfully performed the further surgery. I have just again spoken to Albert. Betty has been moved to a rehab facility and he has been told she should be OK to come home in 10 days or so. Talk about a turnaround. Albert is ecstatic. Betty is down to 50kgs and Albert was joking would now have to wear the dresses she had when they married which she has kept. They would now be back in fashion. They have been married over 50 years. Thank you for your concern."

It's good to get that result.

To those who attended the ICG in Dunlap TN. and to you who do not know Kati and George. Kati  was diagnosted with ovarian cancer. I spoke with her this morning and she is very optimistic. They have removed two tumors, one the size of a grapefruit. She would appreciate your prayers for God's will to be done. We know that God can heal through our prayers and faith. So please put her on your prayer list.

Please remember Kim Montgomery's Mom in your prayers.  She has a massive brain tumor and will have surgery Monday.  She also has 2 other masses that they will deal with once the brain surgery is over.

Kim is the wife of Eric Montgomery (Debbie Nelson's brother).  I will keep you posted on her outcome.  She will be put on a ventilator after surgery and they are afraid she might never come off of it.  She has been ill for a long time.

Thanks so much,

I need your prayers very bad.  C.J. got sick yesterday morning at 1:00 with 103 temp.  It would not break all day and was vomiting., so finally carried him to the dr. at 3:30.  His white blood count was 31,000.  The Dr. sent him to the hospital and the did a scan on his head and was going to do a spinal tap but after the scan they couldn't.  His head is full of sinus infection that could turn into meningitis.  They can't do the spinal tap but are giving him anti-biotics that is for meningitis.  The dr. said it was the worse case he had ever seen.  They also found some "streaks" on his lung that could be pneumonia.  His fever has finally broken and he is eating well.  They will continue the IV's for a couple more days.

I have never been so scared in all my life.  On top of that he was put in the room with a man in D.T.'s and was scared to death.  When I went in today, the man pulled the IV's out of his arm and threw the pole that holds the IV's on top of C.J.  I told the nurses that I want that man out of the room or put C.J. in another room immediately or I was taking him home.  We really needed that on top of C.J.'s sickness.  Anyway, 5 min. later we had a private room.

Pray for his speedy recovery and don't forget Kim Montgomery's mom that is dying with cancer.

Give all my love,
Dottie Blackburn

All your prayers worked!  C.J. came home today.  I knew he would be o.k. when I asked for prayer.  Thank you so much.  His fever is gone and his appetite is back.  He will be on Augmentin 500 for 3 weeks.  The Dr. told him he was a very sick young man.  Mom is sick now from worrying so much.  I finally got some sleep when I turned it over to God.  Isn't HE wonderful!

Love you all more than you will ever know.

Thanks again,
Roger, Dottie & C.J.

Our close friend and ICG member, Juanita Remont (68), who has been riding with us to Church for nearly 14 years underwent a lumpectomy of her breast on Thursday.  She was informed that the lymph nodes were malignant and that she will have to undergo chemo & radiation therapy.  Although she is very upset at this time, she is a very strong woman who trusts that God will see her through.

She has received a few cards from those that were aware of the situation, and she says that she reads those cards over and over again to gain strength.  So, if you can spare just two minutes of your time, please send Juanita a card of support.  She would absolutely treasure it.

18 Harold Reidl,  5-16

My brother, Harold Reid, is going through a very difficult time right now. Six months ago, his daughter [25] was murdered and he's been down hill since. I speak often with him, trying to help him overcome, however, he told me of a situation that happened to him today. He was on the computer and in the bottom right corner a small black box appeared, opened up, and a gold snake started rising, getting bigger and bigger until it filled up the screen, faced him as if it was trying to come through the screen, then it disappeared.. What's your take on that?  He also feels like he's being pushed to do things that he know isn't right. He can't eat or sleep at night...he's disillusioned. Please put him on your prayer list. Please pray for me as well.

Your sister in Christ,

Dear Cindy<
Duane called me yesterday. His voice sounded very strange. It was about his girlfriend who had been calling, telling us all the terrible things Duane was doing. Anyway, she had taken her car and drove to  a wooded area, got out and walked a short distance from the car, spread out a blanket and swallowed ALL of her and Duane's medication and died. She had been going to a group thingy in order to stay out of the nuthouse, but she was going out with a girlfriend and drinking  and started staying out all night. So, when she didn't come home, Duane just figured she was staying at this girl's house. Then, the girl called looking for Becky and that's when Duane checked the medicine cabinet and found everything gone. The cops found the car  and then got the bloodhounds out and found her body nearby. She had been dead for two days when they found  her. Duane is devastated.
It seems that the stuff Becky was telling us on the phone about Duane doing drugs again and being abusive was just not the way things were. Like, she had called and told me that she had called the cops to get Duane thrown out of the house, but they told her she would have to serve him with an eviction. I thought that was strange at the time. Well, Duane told me yesterday that she had been drinking on top of her pills and was  the one who was wasted and the cops just told Duane to put her to bed and let her sleep it off.  In the meantime, she was telling Duane that we were calling and telling her all kinds of things about his past, which also wasn't true. She knew that Duane had a drug problem in the past, but she led us to believer that he was doing coke really bad. Duane told me that he didn't even smoke a cigarette anymore. You know how hard it is to make a crazy person see reason, kinda' like when Louie calls. Well, I had stopped answering my phone because she would ask me the same things over and over and try to pry into his childhood and everything.  She said he had been abusive. Well, what she had told Sandy was that Duane had said some unkind things to her, and that is what she was calling abusive. Needless to say, she had caused a rift in the family, but as far as Duane is concerned, I think that part is okay. I just really feel sorry for him because I know he is so griefstricken, and now feels a little guilty because in some ways he feels some relief at the same time.
Duane  has to have surgery next Thursday for a hernia. After that, I don't know what he is going to do or where he is going to go. Jimmy won't let him come back here because he didn't pay him for the tires and wheels he sold him, but maybe that problem will straighten itself out too. I told Duane to get in touch with Robert Nunnery and talk to him.He knows Robert and even went to church a few times. Right now Duane isn't able to make decisions. Becky's funeral is tomorrow. Her father is with Duane now but will probably go back to ATlanta on Sunday. The trailer was Becky's, so he will have to move. He has no money and had broken ties with all his friends because of Becky, so I don't know what he is going to do. Hopefully, he can find somewhere to stay until he gets over this.
I feel so bad about the whole thing, but also glad that all the things that I thought Duane was doing turned out to be not true. Duane even apologized for leaving that message on the answering machine. He just didn't know what had been going on. For sure Duane needs prayer, but at least he hasn't been doing drugs as we were led to believe.
I'll keep you posted. Please tell those in church and ask them to pray for Duane, I would appreciate it very much.
Love, Betty

I'll keep you posted as I get more information.

I am writing to ask you--and whomever else you can pass this along to in the Church--to pray urgently for my youngest sister and her family.  My sister's mother-in-law is unconverted, mentally unstable (this is not just my opinion, it is fact), and hostile to God and His Church.  Recently, she brought false allegations of child endangerment against my sister and her husband before CPS and now they are in a fight to regain complete custody of their child.  At present, they are forced to live in the grandparents' home, which, as I mentioned before, is hostile to God.  They are not allowed to be alone with their own little girl (who is four years old), so they can't even take her to Church services unless the atheist grandparents come along.  Unfortunately, CPS does not do things God's way.  That's all I will say about that at this time.

This is a grievous and urgent situation and we are all praying and asking as many others as we can contact among God's people to pray about this also.  God has sent someone close by to help, so He is working, and we know that all will come together for good in His time.  Please ask God to remove this thorn from the side of His people and to encourage and strengthen my sister and her husband.  My brother-in-law is newly baptized and this is a whopper of a trial to hit him so soon.  We know God will take care of it, but we need strength and patience.  Please ask God to help us as we stand still and await His salvation.

Praise and honor be to God in the Highest.

Your sister in Christ,
Janet

Hello To All,

Just a moment if you will, I would like to ask for special prayer for my sister, Peggy Tolbert. Peggy will be going into Betsy Johnson Hospital, in Dunn, N.C. tomorrow morning for a complete knee replacement, she will be in much pain for sure after surgery. Peggy says that she will have to undergo another knee surgery on the other leg in about a year or less.  Please remember her if you will in your prayers, that is, over the next few days.  I am sure she will appreciate every one of them. THANKS! Our prayers are that she will come through both of these major knee surgeries with flying colors, that is, with minimal problems.

Till later,

Curtis & Connie

Shirley Stephens ( God heals the blocked arteries in her neck )

Jean Prayter ( God protect her from anymore strokes )

Doris Brown ( she has a quick recovery from the flu virus )

Folks,
Add my family to your prayer today.  Dad had yet another stroke at 5:00pm yesterday, Sunday, 24th.  This is his 3rd one that was clearly recognized.  Nothing "mini" about those.

Thank God it so happened that my sister was in Wal Mart the same time my wife and I were and able to bolt to the house quickly.  Dad was sitting on the porch in the middle of the stroke when we arrived.  Unresponsive, drool and eyes watering and slumped to the right.

My brother in law picked him up after we tried to get him to walk.  Took him inside and lay him down.  We stripped his shirt and put fan on him and washcloth on his head to bring his core down, moved his limbs, talked to him and watched his pressure and help change him into lighter clothing.  Three hours later, he rises with our help, hobbles to kitchen table, sat down and was eating on his own again with good appetite.  We put him to bed afterwards taking vitals and making him comfortable.  He had started talking again and very tired.

We did not call ambulance because our last visit I inquired about from the time the ambulance arrived till five hours that had passed, what treatments were given.  Just a scan of his head and an IV that they could not insert correctly after the fourth time.  They cannot give him MRI because of pace maker.  Nor can they give him anti-clot medicines because he had a past brain-bleed. The medicine would or could kill him instantly and the doctor said he would only give him the medicine as last resort.  So, the last visit Dad basically rode it out again and was walking the next day and laughing.

So, we just have to make that call.  This is quite a bit of emotional rollercoaster to go through - but, you know what, there are no more shocking surprises for us anymore.  I've seen it all.  Hell to watch a man, especially my father, have to go through this.  God has strengthened us though.  We will see it to the end and determined to care for dad at home.  Pray for us to be strong and that dad not suffer.

To my dear friends,

Would you please include me in your personal prayers for my upcoming hip surgery.  It is scheduled for Tuesday, and it would be wonderful knowing that God's people have submitted their supplications.

With much love sent to you,
Laurie

Hi gang,

I just received word from Joe that Laurie is now sporting a new titanium hip.  She underwent hip replacement surgery early this morning at Oschner Hospital in New Orleans.  Joe called and said everything went well.  She was unable to get the epidural, but other than that it sounds like she'll be "cutting a rug" before we know it.  She'll be in the hospital for several days and will begin therapy soon.

I spoke with her yesterday and her spirits were very high as she was looking forward to putting this behind her.  She asked me to E-mail all of you and give you and update, and let you know that she and Joe thank everyone for their prayers, love and support.

Here's her home mailing address if you'd like to drop her a card.

Hi

Laurie asked me to let you know that she is doing good. She now has a new left hip. She has already started therapy but the doctor will not release her from the hospital until she can stand on her own without any help. She made several steps today already. Thanks for all your prayers and please keep praying that it keeps going this well. God has really answered all our prayers.
 Thanks,

Joe

Hello!

Just wanted to let y'all know that I arrived home on Sunday afternoon.  All is well.

Honestly, the recovery for this THR is going to be incredibly easy.  I understand, though, that those that have knee replacements have a more difficult time, and it is harder as a person gets older.

There is very little pain.  Of course, I'm bathed in Percocet, but there is only minimal discomfort.  The before and after, even now, is unbelievable.  I'm nearly walking upright like my ancestors~~just a little evolution humor!

Yesterday, I broiled some chicken, and today I loaded and unloaded the washer!  I expect to mow the back 40 tomorrow!

While in the hospital, there were many problems with my blood pressure taking a nose dive, unbearable back pain after surgery [slept through most of that!], and only one other incident of excruciating pain because the hip muscles seized because I was cold, but those times only lasted a few minutes each.  So, I can say that was and is a walk in the park.

I value your prayers and concern, and thank you for your kindness.

Please stay in touch.

Love,
Laurie

There is a baptized member of the ICG in Halifax, N.S. who is very much in need of prayers. He has one month to decide whether to go on dialysis(which he is totally against),to have a high risk operation(over a 50% chance he won't make it but at the moment he feels it is what he is going to opt for) or have a stint  replaced every 2 mths. which is very painful and debilitating and causes him to be bed ridden a lot of the time. The entire church followed Tom Kerry except this man. He was too sick to come to the phone to talk to me yesterday but I had a nice talk with his wife who is very sweet. He only has the 1 kidney. His name is Herbert Wendowsky. Bernie Bercosky baptized him about 10 yrs.ago. He is about 55 yrs old. We are indeed the scattered salt of the earth.

Please put Stacy Westbrook on the prayer list. She has cancer and is waiting for funding for the surgery she needs.

Also please pray for Kayli Gunter...she is one month old and has severe viral infection that causes her to forget to breathe.

Son, Sherman, has requested prayer for his mother, Patricia Tarpley, in Georgia.
She is in a coma from a couple of strokes and possible heart attack.

Pat Tinker would like to request prayer for her son-in-law, John Wilson, for extreme back problems. He has missed three days of work and can only take a few steps before he collapses in extreme pain.

Stacy Westbrook would like to be added to the prayer list. She has a mass in her breast that has spread, so they are pretty sure it is cancer.

Prayer request for Flora Northcutt. She is now in a nursing home and in poor health.

Monica Ramirez requests prayer for strength in her personal life.

John Damon requests prayer for personal life and health.

Please put Freida Shumate on the prayer list for health problems.
