Sure, it all starts out innocently enough....

Maybe you read an article in a newspaper, or heard about an archaeological site on television. Pretty soon you're picking up issues of Archaeology Magazine, and attending local AIA Society lectures: asking questions, meeting people who share your interests, going out to dinner with the speaker afterwards, throwing out those archaeological terms......telling yourself,

I can stop at any time.

Before you realize it, you're getting involved with the local society, attending archaeological conferences, and volunteering for digs.  Next thing you know,  you're working out in the Syrian deserts, the Mongolian plains, Greek hilltops, or even excavating right in your own hometown.

It could happen to you.
