| Wrist Corsages | Although pin-on corsages are traditional, not many people know how to pin them correctly. Also, the material the corsage is to be pinned to may be damaged by the pin. |
| Ceremony Music | Try this with the song you really want in your wedding...Stand still beside your fiance when the song is playing. How long can you stand without talking or kissing? Remember, the song will seem even longer on your wedding day. |
| Reception Music | Ask your parents to dance with you. Is this awkward? Imagine how awkward it will be in front of 200 people! If you want to have a "first dance" and "parent dance" consider asking the DJ to fade the music out after a minute or two. You can always give the DJ a signal that you want the music to continue. On a side note, the only time your parents have your full attention on your wedding day may be during that one song. Parents might appreciate a long song. |
| Cleaning the Church | Ask or hire someone from the church to clean up after the ceremony. Too many couples have delayed their reception because they thought they could "put the church back" on their own. |
| Photos Before the Ceremony | I like to start working 1 1/2 hours before the wedding. This cuts down on the time between the ceremony and reception. After all, wouldn't you rather being with your family and guests instead of being with me? |
| Introducing the Wedding Party at the Reception | It sounds like a great idea, but most of the time, it is a nightmare! I don't know how, but one or two bridesmaids or groomsmen "get lost" between the ceremony and reception sites. Your wedding day is YOUR day! Your guests are patiently waiting for your grand entrance. Do you really want to delay your reception and/or party longer? If you want the wedding party introduced, please tell each person that you expect them at the reception immediately and that time doesn't allow for stopping at the local ABC store. |
| Disposable Cameras | Kids love those things! If you want the cameras used properly, assign an adult at each table that has a camera to be responsible for it. Otherwise, you will waste your money developing photos of the floor, ceiling, and Little Timmy making funny faces. One more thing---make sure they use the flash for every photo. |
| Recommendations for Services | Ask your friends and family who they would recommend for your wedding services. This includes planner, limo, caterer, cake, DJ, and photographer. Newlyweds are a wealth of information. |
