(The rose.)

alone, a fresh blossom
untouched and admired from afar
remains in the gentle garden calm yet afraid
to be taken is to fade
glistening, bright and newborn in the rising dawn
colors bright and luminous
glowing in the grey white sky light
petals soft and silken
the lushness barbed by exquisite thorns
the keen pain of a prick deters the quick
fragility of beauty and delicately poised
easily crushed, to have the dew spill like tears
the rose is a tender blessing
it graces the garden
it graces those who behold it's bloom
and though it may wilt or be trampled carelessly
a rose will always flourish
and it's beauty linger with everyone
