Purchasing an Intatto Chow Chow Puppy

All payments are final and are non refundable.

Pets are $1,500 Show prospects are $2,000. Non refundable advance deposits, half of purchase price; $750 for pets, $1,000 for show prospects, are required to reserve a puppy with balance being due before puppy is 8 weeks old. Once puppies are born full payment is required from anyone who did not place an advance deposit.  Puppies are offered according to deposit order only after I have evaluated the litter and decided which puppies will be sold as pets and which puppies I will be keeping or offering to show homes. I ALWAYS HAVE FIRST PICK OF PUPPIES I BREED. I am the only one who will decide which puppies are sold and who they will be sold to. Let me know your desires in a puppy, i.e., color preference, sex, size, whether you plan to show the dog or just want a pet, if you have children please state how many and their ages, I will be able to determine which puppy will best fit into your family dynamics. No one knows the puppies personalities and pedigrees better than I do and I assure you I will be able to offer the best one for you. Should you decline the puppy or puppies offered to you your deposit will go toward the next litter in keeping with deposit order. If you have your heart set on a certain color or sex and there is one that matches in a litter please don't assume it's yours, if it is not available there may be one for you in the next litter. If you are unwilling to wait for a puppy of your desired preference do not place a deposit! Puppies are sold to approved homes only.

Funds may be paid via money order, Cashier's check, bank wire/deposit, cash. Any and all payments are non refundable.

I recommend waiting as long as is legally possible before vaccinating for rabies. Read about VACCINOSIS. Read about current vaccination protocol VACCINATION SCHEDULE.

Knowing What To Look For

Please research carefully before purchasing a puppy/dog. I get a lot of phone calls and emails from people who feel other breeders have cheated them. Here are some tips I feel may help you in your search for the right puppy/dog for you and your family.

1)
Click here to see if the breeder is a member of the Chow Chow Club Inc. which is the AKC recognized National Chow Chow breed parent club. The best that you can do is to educate yourself on what a correct Chow Chow should be. Click here for
The Illustrated Standard Of The Chow Chow.

2) The dogs MUST be AKC registered! However, the AKC will register any puppy bred from registered parents regardless of quality even, if they are sick, crippled, or of such poor quality to be almost unrecognizable as the breed they nontheless are.

3) If a breeder does not own show dogs they sure can't sell you a show quality puppy! They don't even know what to look for. This is important because you do want your dog to look and act correct for it's breed. The chance of a non show breeder selling you a correct type Chow Chow is almost nil.

4) Champion pedigree does not automatically equal quality dogs. Look for show results on the breeders web site. There are lots of dogs with nice champion pedigrees that are not of breeding quality. Remember, littermate puppies have identical pedigrees yet, are almost never all show/breeding prospects. Again,

The best that you can do is to educate yourself on what a correct Chow Chow should be. Click here for The Illustrated Standard Of The Chow Chow.

5) Steer clear of breeders who market NuVet supplements. They are unnecessary, can harm your dog and are a source of income for breeders. I have received numerous calls from NuVet wholesalers trying to get me to sell their product on my site. You will NEVER see them sold here!

6) Chows are a MEDIUM sized breed! Purposely breeding Chows too big is a detriment to the breed, do not be impressed by over standard sized dogs.

7) Ask breeders for OFA and/or CERF clearances on sires and dams of litters.

8) Length of time breeding does not determine the quality of the dogs. I have known breeders who after 30 years of breeding still breed poor quality dogs and I have known of breeders who produce excellent dogs right from the start. Among other criteria dog breeding is a talent and like painting a masterpiece some have it and some don't.

9) Be wary of any breeder who allows their puppies to leave before they are 7 - 8 weeks old. Research has proven puppies need that much time with their littermates and dams to be properly socialized.

10) Know that AKC and UKC are the only transferable all breed registration bodies in America. Some breeders are claiming to have CKC registered dogs but are not telling you it is Continental Kennel Club NOT Canadian Kennel Club. Continental Kennel Club will register any dog based on photos and letters stating the dog appears to be of a certain breed. Is this acceptable to you?
