The Leavenworth trip was a
blast! We took Stevens Pass over the North
Cascades. The roads were clear almost to the
summit, then they were covered in compact snow
and ice. It had been snowing regularly the past
few weeks and we were worried whether the pass
would even be open. The snow was very deep at
the summit. We stayed at the Icicle Creek Inn in
Leavenworth, a very nice lodge with cross -
country ski rental right next door. Dorothy is a
very good skier, but a little rough on the
equipment. BOOM!

The Leavenworth town village had
about a foot of snow on the ground, which really
added to the alpine atmosphere. Robin and Perry
were also at Leavenworth for the weekend, so we
had dinner together at Katzenjammers. Good food
(steak). Dorothy and I got a hike in along
Icicle Creek. The snow was several feet deep,
but we found a trail that was packed-down and
hiked through a winter wonderland! Someone had
built an igloo beside the river, so of course, I
had to get in it. Pretty comfy in there!
