  After chow on Sunday we did the hike to Carter Falls near Cougar Rock. If you have missed this hike on Mt.Rainier, I would suggest you return just for this hike, particularly in the winter. The trail is not too steep and travels along the river to the falls. There is also a great view of Madcap in the distance.
On top of the world
The more than 300 miles of trails in the park are usually snow-free from mid-July through September.
