Ironwood Fire Division
THE IRONWOOD FIRE DIVISION PROVIDES 24 HOUR FULL TIME FIRE COVERAGE TO THE CITY OF IRONWOOD AND THE TOWNSHIP OF ERWIN. WE ARE SUPPLEMENTED BY A VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENT

The fact that we are a public safety department gives us a unique opportunity to provide full-time fire coverage to our city residents as well as the residents of Erwin Township. We are also First Responders to Gogebic Community College.
We currently operate 3 fire apparatus. The primary engine is Engine #99. This is a 1999 Pierce Pumper. The secondary engine is Engine #87. A 1987 Seagrave Pumper. We also have a mini pumper #76. This is a 1976 Ford Mini Pumper, primarily used for grass / wildfires.
When a fire call is received, the on-duty Public Safety Officers return to the station and gear up and get the Pumper on the scene. Duty crews are called out according to the severity of the fire or manpower requirements.
