Campus LAN ITS Networking Services has been providing network consulting services for a Pennsylvania health care organization for some time. The partnership began in 2001 when ITS was asked (as a subcontractor to Cerner) to review the overall campus network design.The relationship has continued through the present time. ITS recently completed a review of the network to determine if special Quality of Service (QoS) configuration would be required to move massive volumes of medical image data. ITS was able to describe the QoS mechanisms to the client and show that a simple priority scheme might suffice in stead. ITS is now beginning a new consulting engagement with the client to evaluate a range of network equipment upgrade options. Hot Site Facility ITS was recently asked by a client to assist them with their hot site strategy. This far-sighted client has invested in a secure hot site facility (located in the caves) and a redundant set of servers. The hot site connects to the main site via a dedicated T1 line. ITS has developed a networking strategy to support various failure scenarios and is working with the client to implement. Other Consulting In the last few years, ITS has consulted with clients on a range of subjects. ITS helped one client choose a cost-effective network inventory management software. ITS helped another client select the best Internet content management system for their environment. ITS is currently helping a client develop a low-cost distributed network intrusion system. | ||||
