Tori often speaks of adolescence as "the cruelest place on earth." When Tori was twelve, she wrote this song for a boy she had a crush on, Billy -- she thinks. And the boy threatened to beat her up if she played it in front of the school assembly. Despite the threat, Tori played it. Afterward, the boy told her that it was better than he thought and did not beat her up.
