A Life of Engagement
"But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. On the day when I act, you will tread upon the wicked as if they were dust under your feet,"says the Lord of Heaven's Armies. (Malachi 4:2-3, NLT)
Callings
I truly believe that we are called and meant to find out our calling. This calling can be in regards to what ever activities that we have going on in our lives. This does not mean that we all have a calling to do ministry to the church, but that the church has a calling to do ministry. This ministry is where ever we are in our lives, our jobs, our schools, our relationships, any aspects of our lives. I think that when we live our lives like that, is when we start to operate like Malachi was talking about. Then we will be like calves out of their stalls, and treading down on the enemy. It's about walking in the calling for our lives.
Activities
I end up being involved in a number of areas of my life. I am a student at Eastern Washington University, in the School of Social Work. I'm not really sure what I want to do with my life, but I have a lot of ideas (maybe too many). I have a strong passion for working with at risk youth. I spent two years working at Jubilee Youth Ranch, as an RA. I got to spend my time just hanging out in the dorms with the boys and focus on trying to change young men's lives. I was one of the troubled youth, right were these boys are at right now. I grew up without a normal dad, visiting mine in prison. I am involved at my church, Victory Faith Fellowship in Spokane Valley. I also am active with the college ministry group Northwest Collegiate Ministries (NCM) at Eastern's Campus. I live on campus, in Streeter (Streeter is sweeter baby!). It has been a good experience so far. I'm active in both my hall council and the over all Residential Hall Association.
What to do
I have some cool things that I have done at jacobshouse. My contact page has all of my information, and all the websites that I maintain or have created. I semi-frequently update my Google calendar. I have a set of resources that I have created including essays, bible studies, and what ever else I feel like putting there. I also have a blog that I update fairly frequently.
