Step Eight: Home Made Corner Brackets

First off, sorry for the Blurry picture, but I am sure you can tell what it is.  I wanted to get away from the $3.29 brackets, so out of a $13 dollar sheet of 22 gauge steel which was 2' x 2' square, I cut 16 - 5 inch squares and rounded each corner.   I first made a poster board template, so each one would be the same size.  Then on my drill press I made a simple jig that would allow me to hit each corner correctly to drill the hole, this hole should be big enough so that your wood screw will pass through easily to the head.  Depending on your wood screw size will determine your correct hole size.  After all squares were cut and drilled.  I marked the locations for each diamond to be placed.  I marked a center line on the metal frame at 1 inch from the cutouts.  Then I lined up the drilled holes on each line and drilled a pilot hole for the wood screw.  Then i screwed in the 2, 3, or 4 screws needed for each piece.  On corners I only needed 2 screws. on sides I needed 3 and in the middle I needed 4 screws.
