Step One: design

Total width 38" square

The lockdown diamonds are 5 inches square with the corners rounded off.

each square is 10", these are 1 inch smaller than what everyone else is doing, but with the frame I wanted 2 inches in between each step, so total width from outside step to other outside step is 34" so the overall size of the dancing area is only 1 inch bigger than a 33" standard size.  My intention for this was to do away with the corner brackets that cost 3.29 a pair. also hard to do a frame with the upper diagonals using the corner brackets.
