I was an English major in college and have never lost my love for great books, with the exception of a five years mistake, when I was too busy working and too wrapped up in news.
My interests today run mostly to books about the West, a combination of histories, modern and classic Westerns and novels about the West, yesterday and today. I mix in occasional new novels and classics, such "A Tale of Two Cities," and reread a couple of books a year from my past to see how former favorites withstand the test of time. "Earth Abides," "The World According to Garp," "White Fang," and "Call of the Wild" passed. "Sunlight Dialogues" and "Martin Eden" didn't. I'm keeping an online list below of what I'm reading and have just read with the most recent on top and a list of the best books I've read and recommend since the early 1990s with descriptions of each. The list of what I've read is mostly for me, but I'd enjoy hearing from anyone about any book on either list. So please feel free to send e-mail if you want to discuss anything, especially if you have some author to recommend. I'm always looking for someone new to explore. |
