when viewed cross-grain. This wood is from Australia

closed end Baron made with Two-tone Afican Blackwood. It can be found throughout
East and Central Africa, in the savanna regions of the Sudan southward to
Mozambique, then westward to Angola and northward to Nigeria and Senegal.
Two-tone simply means that there is sapwood and heartwood present.

European pen made with Wenge another wood from Afica that grows in swampy areas
in Zaire, Cameroon, the Congo, Tanzania, and Gaboon. This pen uses a cross
style refill.

to the grain. That gives grain patterns that are visible in this
particular piece. Also called Mediteranean olive, European olive, Spanish
olive, etc, depending on the local of origin, this is a very attractive and
expensive wood used primarily for ornamental items because the small size of the
tree limits production and also because in Italy and Greece, if you threaten the
source of olive oil with a chainsaw, several large men will come and hurt you.

vulnerable. This pen uses a cross refill.

in Southern Mexico, throughout Central America and the West Indies to northern
Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru. This wood is popularly used in hardwood
flooring in the US today.

grows in an irregular strip scarcely 35 miles wide and 500 miles long, extending
along the west slope of the Pacific Coast from the Chetco River in Oregon to
about 100 miles south of San Francisco. The trees grow from sea level to above
3,000 feet above the sea, on flats and slopes subject to frequent heavy fogs.
