I gotta say I am excited to see posts from NON-PIRATES...
A couple posts back, we got a dialog going with a league parent (Cascade Christian) and now North Valley has used this forum to get word to us about the injury in our Tueday PM match.
On that matter, for folks who haven't been into the comments or weren't at the game, an NV player went down about 30 minutes into the game. The incident was on the spectator sideline, so was a long distance from my vantage point, but it seemed that while pursuing a ball that was headed for the touchline, two NV players collided, and the one who was coming from the more defensive direction got the worse of it... I couldn't tell exactly why she was upended so severely - from where I stood, it seemed she had made a twisting effort to kick a ball up line and that got her feet off the ground and her body in a weird position and then the collision hit. Long story short, she hit the ground hard and awkwardly and that rarely goes well.
Play was stopped for 20+ minutes, emergency services responded, and after some EMT eval, the player left in an ambulance, much to the concern of both sets of players and the assembled crowd.
When the game concluded, we asked after the health of the injured player and so now we come to this news, provided both in comments below and on OregonLive: The NV player was released later on Tues eve and went home sore but unconcussed and 'clear' from a medical standpoint.
We are thrilled to know she is OK and we wish NV the best in the remainder of the season. They are still in a position to battle for the #3 playoff spot and they have played tight enough against league foes to give me every reason to believe they have a shot.
