From Dan...
This is the text of the letter given out today by Dan as we shared Pizza in the library and he announced his plans for the coming years.
To ALL Lady Pirate Soccer Players and their Families:
John, Jerry, Tori, and I would once again like to congratulate all of the student athletes in the program on your accomplishments this fall. Both the junior varsity and varsity teams' accomplishments were impressive. Thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm, and preparation which created the opportunity for our success. We all realize you gave a lot of yourselves to achieve our program goals. We are very proud of you and are grateful to associate with such wonderful young individuals.
I would also like to thank every parent for your patience, efforts, and sacrifices in order to create what we, as a staff, hope was a positive experience for your daughters. Your efforts were extremely impressive and we are grateful for everything you have done. We could not have made this journey without your support and generosity. Thank you again for your thoughtful gifts of appreciation at the banquet and your communication throughout the season. The involvement by our parents is truly the envy of the league. We cannot thank you enough.
Now for the difficult part... effective today, I will be resigning from my position as co-Head Coach. As many of you know, this past December, Stacey, Kinsey, and I spent 10 days in Maui. At the end of our vacation, we came back to Phoenix knowing that Maui was the place we needed to be. (I would be happy to chat with each of you, if you are curious.) We have set in motion our plan to move there and are excited about the adventures that await us. Kinsey would be willing to move tomorrow, if that was possible.
As excited as we are, we feel very blessed to have lived in the valley for the past 15 years and are particularly grateful for our friendships made in this community. My involvement in the Lady Pirate Soccer program has covered ten of those years and I could not begin to explain how significant the experience has been for my family and me. Even though I don't have a tattoo (DAN!), I will forever be a Pirate and am grateful for the relationships and experiences created through my soccer involvement.
Thanks for letting me share my family with yours...these experiences have meant an awful lot to me.
Best wishes to everyone involved in the program for safe, successful, and enjoyable seasons to come.
Thank you again and A L O H A!
We also briefly discussed what happen next, and I will lay that out in several posts over the next couple of days. Meantime, GOOD LUCK, DAN!! Thank YOU for everything you've done for Phoenix Soccer!!
