What Comes Around...

We pride ourselves on the tradition of excellence with Phoenix soccer. The girls' team has been a state ranked program for that past five seasons; the boys, too. The boys' program first made the league playoffs in 1988, the girls in 1993 - the girls haven't missed qualifying for at least one additional match since. But in going throuogh old yearbooks in search of players for the girls' commemorative, two items leapt out at me - in 1988, the first playoff year, the 3 regular season losses were 6-0 and 7-0 to Henley, and 4-2 to South Umpqua. In 1987, Phoenix lost to Illinois Valley 10-0 and 9-2, and South Umpqua 6-3 and 8-1. Times have changed...
