Since this has hit the JOB POSTINGS on the walls in the high scool and district office, as well as the Mail Tribune, it seems I need to address it here, since my schedule prevents my getting to the building to see you all assembled any time soon.
The few of you I have seen recently (Carlee, Sarah, Megan), sorry I didn't bring it up, but I was really hoping I would have an opportunity to speak to the whole team before it became public info. That cat is out of the bag now, so...
I submitted a written resignation to Mr. Barry over the break - the key points are included here:
After much consideration, weighing of circumstance, history, priority, and situation, I have come to the conclusion that remaining part of the Lady Pirate soccer program at Phoenix High School is no longer part of the big picture that I am part of.
When I first started with the program in 1996, I was a SD 4 temporary certificated employee, but since that assignment, no full time position has found me a good fit at either the high school or the middle school. While I worked for CrossRoads, the overlap with PHS soccer was workable, as that association was known going in and all my administrators approved the double duty.
Now that I am at North Medford, the situation isn’t nearly as workable. My extra duties running a theater department are an extraordinary demand on my time and the understanding of the 549c administrators is that I can’t realistically maintain both jobs without significant shorting of one, the other, or both. With the new assignment, it would be a far better thing for me to step aside and let new hands take up the PHS reins, rather than hang on and wait until the split attentions created such detriment that neither job was a good fit.
I still hope to maintain some association with the program - I am scheduling the teams for next season's Jamboree and am still in touch with Concordia about conducting a joint camp with the Valleys. Mr. Barry has asked if I could remain connected to the goalkeeper training and I am not opposed, though I do not want my presence to detract from the new head coach or to make any player feel like there is some split loyalty, deferring to me for any reason whatsoever. I will continue to maintain this website for as long as the new staff wishes.
I do want a chance to get together, but I don't have a schedule gap until
The Tempest closes the final weekend in February.
Check in here or please call me if you have any questions.
My thanks for the good run!
