Thursday my parents again joined the five of us, and we all took a bus to Stonehenge and Bath for the day. Stonehenge was a little rushed; after a couple of hours on the bus, they gave us less than 45 minutes to wander around. (And use the restroom, buy a snack, check out the gift shop, etc.) Would another half-hour have killed them?
After Stonehenge, we went to Bath and saw the Roman spa.
Note that both kids have at least one shoe untied.
Susan and I may not be as cute, but at least my shoes are laced.
I snickered at this British tourist... It looked like she dressed in a Roman toga to come on her tour of Bath.
In the city of Bath, we stumbled upon this maze, all alone in it's tiny park. I have no idea who Beazer is (or was). I later found some info about the maze at the Bath Preservation Trust, and also the company that built the maze.
When I first saw the topiary dinosaurs, I thought they were cute. What's really cute is the other dinosaur, peeking out of the shadows in the upper right!
This summer was my folks 50th anniversary... Not while we were in London, but only a couple of weeks later. We didn't have a big celebration, but Susan organized a nice surprise. She raided all the names from my parent's address book, and in May and June wrote all their old friends, asking for cards and letters. After the long bus ride back from Bath, we all sat around and read the responses.
