Spring Prairie Lutheran
Church celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1997. The Spring Prairie
congregation was founded on March 28, 1847 beneath a large oak tree.
Pastor Johannes Dietrichson, a Norwegian immigrant, carved a cross in
the tree's bark saying, "We must have the sign of the cross, for we are
to celebrate Holy Communion here today."
A century and a half later,
the Spring Prairie congregation continues to worship with the same love
of Christ as their forefathers. Today, 400 persons make up the Spring
Prairie congregation. In addition to regular worship, Spring Prairie
offers many services to its members and the community including:
