Aaron Schauer is back at Prairie Coffeehouse by popular demand. He’s the only Prairie Coffeehouse artist to have debuted his own music on our stage.
Not that Aaron’s any stranger to being on stage—he shepherds his elementary school students through five music programs each year, one for each grade K-4 he teaches at Windsor Elementary. Not that he’s any stranger to music—it was a way of life in his family. His father performed with country bands (today in Wausau duo KT Country). He learned piano by mimicking his sister and picked up guitar-playing by ear. He began writing music in high school, but up until four years ago had never performed his own music in public. No one in his audience that night would have known this, though, because he seemed so comfortable and his songs and music were so—well, good.
Major influences over time have been James Taylor and Paul Simon; more recently Jack Johnson and Mat Kearney. Sometimes Aaron writes songs for his elementary students with inspirational messages, and sometimes those messages come through in his adult music as well.
Aaron will share his music again February 18th at Prairie Coffeehouse in Keyeser performing solo, and also with special guest Joe Godat. Joe is the owner of Ten Fingers Guitar in DeForest where he teaches guitar and drums. The two have just begun playing together, and this will mark their first public performance.
