Well get busy, get that air cleaner off, drain the radiator pull off the upper radiator hose and the fuel line. Disconnect the throttle cable and remove the throttle bracket. Remove the pcv valve hose and be careful with the F-hose connector they are very brittle. Remove all the 9/16 intake bolts and don’t forget the water pump cover bolt. Remove the temperature-sending unit and lay the wire harness out of the way.

 

 

 

 

Next you need to pry the intake loose

and lift it from the motor. The AFB intake is very light compared to the Tri-power.

 

Clean the intake ports and vacuum up

all the debris. Install the intake gaskets

 some people like to put a very

light coat of silicone on the

 gaskets but I have never had a problem

installing them dry. To hold the gaskets

 in place lightly tap the plastic

retainers in with a mallet.
