is, according to its cover "Simply the best baseball novel ever written." The quote is from W.P Kinsella, and he's probably right (Dostoevsky and Kazantzakis never wrote about baseball). This is the type of book that lets you you crawl into another place and time; it recreates the era of Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, and the Polo Grounds. It's in the style of Ragtime or (I suppose -- since haven't seen it) Forrest Gump: a fictional character interacting with real historical figures. Definitely recommended. The Celebrant
