Elton John Scheduled To Open Jackson Trial

Santa Maria, CA (BHN) - In a near unprecedented move by Michael Jackson's legal team, opening statements for the Pop Icon Superstar will be musically performed by Michael's good friend Sir Elton John. Only once before in celebrity trial history has such a tactic been utilized, that when Liberace sang his own opening statement to jurors at the beginning of his "drunk and lewd in public" trial.

Santa Maria District Attorney Tom Sneddon's objections were over-ruled by Judge Rodney Melville. "Unfortunately Mr. Sneddon, there is a precedent set for such opening statements and as much as I would like to keep this trial from turning into a rock concert, my hands are tied and I have no choice but to allow Mr. John to present Mr. Jackson's case to the jury in any form that they deem to be most favorable for their own defense." said Judge Melville to Sneddon's unwavering objections.

Lead attorney Thomas Mesereau told Blue Humor, "We have several other celebrity tricks up our sleeve, but having Elton present the opening statement in song should be our big one. This goes to credibility, Michael's credibility and having Sir Elton John, a world respected superstar entertainer, sing to the jury that 'Michael is innocent,' well, it should have a huge and very positive impact on the entire trial."

Blue Humor has learned that two of the opening songs will be a re-written renditions of, "Don't let the sun go down on me" and "All the young girls love Alice." There are also been rumors floating about that HBO will be video taping the performance for airing at a later date, providing that Michael is acquitted. Programs for Elton's performance are being printed up and will be made available for a reasonable price to courtroom attendees and the general public.
