About Me

I suppose one would want to see a picture, but I only have this old thing

Educational background: quit school after one semester at Michigan State University; joined the military, then tried again spending two years at San Angelo State University in Texas. Ran out of money and left school, this time for good. I have given up asking universities to certify that I know what they want me to know. I suppose I don't.

Career: computer science, mainly operating systems and tools to support the development and maintenance of complex software like operating systems; version control, quality assurance, etc. Published a number of books in programming and Unix, now long since out of print. Taught some courses, including an engagement under contract at IBM Ed Center in midtown Manhattan. In fact, I spent so much time in my 25 years of professional activity working with technical and technological whizbang stuff, that I became sick to death of it, and now spew forth criticisms of science for fun.

Family: I have two brothers surviving. My father and mother have both gone to their great reward, and I must say, I miss them... but life goes on. I am 59 years now and live alone, an arrangement which seems to suit me. My health has not been so good lately, due to thirty years of smoking cigarettes, but after a difficult operation on my lungs, am on the upswing. I hold forth in the #philosophical channel on the undernet (http://www.undernet.org)

Plans: at this point, my main intentions are to enjoy flightsimming while I have some time left, to try to shed some light on a few philosophical problems (philosophical problems are like small mammals, avoiding the light and scurrying about at great speed to avoid anything which might catch them), and to amuse my friends.

Cheers.
