Ripon Rotary Welcomes Its Newest Member
The members of the Ripon Rotary Club welcomed its newest member, Michael Garcia, in March of 2008. Michael grew up in Ripon and moved to Chico to attend college before returning to Ripon where he now resides with his fiancee. Michael is a cash flow manager with County Bank and he enjoys playing poker which will make him a natural fit with the club's annual Texas Hold 'Em Tournament.
Rotary Scores Books for Parkview Elementary
Ripon Rotary Club members Cathy Fuentes, Bob Bockhahn and Michael Garcia spent the morning of March 8th stamping books for the library at Parkview Elementary School. The books were funded through a Rotary grant of $2000 secured in 2007. The books were all stamped with the message "Donated by Ripon Rotary".
Ripon Rotary Poker Tournament Huge Success!!
The Ripon Rotary Club's first annual poker tournament was a smashing success. Everyone had a great time and the club raised a good amount of money that we can use for local projects and scholarships. There were 78 entrants who were whittled down to a mere nine at the final table. Of those final nine, the four who finished 6th through 9th earned their entry fee back. The top five finishers looked like this:
1st Place: Jesse Ricketts, $500 (and a tournament bracelet)
2nd Place: Michael Francis Kelly, $400
3rd Place: Paul Zehr, $300
4th Place: Don Moyer, $200
5th Place: Ed Ormonde, $100
Congratulations to all the big winners. To reserve a seat at next year's tournament email your name, address and phone number to Past President John Orcutt: jorcutt@charter.net. We'll see that you get a personal invite.
