2003 CBR 600F4i + Deer at 70mph
|
So I get off work on Friday, finally a day without the insane heat and humidity. I think to myself, what a great day to burn off the rest of those shitty Briggstone Battleaxe tires, so I can put on my new Metzler Sporttechs. I head towards the Mount Horeb area. I ride for a hour or so. I end up south of Mount Horeb on JG, which is a beautiful curvy road. It's about 7:15, I come around a nice sweeping turn and straighten out. Then out of the ditch comes a medium sized doe. She hesitated on the edge of the road for a split second, I thought to myself, maybe I can get in front of her, NOPE. She goes for it! Next thing I know , BAM , the front of the bike shatters. Some how the deer flies of to the left, hit her square in the shoulder. I drove straight thru her, went and made a U turn and this is what was left. There were pieces every where, at least a 30 ft circle. I couldn't even find half the pieces. After I hit her she never moved, lay dead about 25ft from where I hit here in the apposing lane. She had a quick death. The stomach/rear end of the deer ripped the radiator cap off, my right leg got soaked with antifreeze. Other than that I didn't recieve any injuries. I got damn lucky, to bad I can't say the same for the bike. Just over 5000 miles on it. Watch out for those damn deer! And here they are hauling my baby away, sad isn't it? Thank god for insurance, except for when I have to renew it next year! You know they are going to get there money back. Forgive the spelling errors and bad grammer, I threw this together quickly.
