92 Daytona Iroc Shelby

In my quest for finding parts, I found an entire car. I found a 92 Daytona IROC with a 2.5 turbo. The car has rust started and has 177,000 miles. The car runs real nice and has some good power, I am going to use it as a daily driver. The main reason I bought the car is for the 568 transmission. It has a lot of miles on it but feels pretty tight. I have been looking for a 568 to do the internals swap, but have had very little luck locating one that would not cost me an arm and a leg. Also the car is real pretty blue and is 1 of 36 blue IROC 2.5 turbos produced in 92. It has both shelby and iroc tags on it. It is also loaded with power everything and overhead console. The AC even works. I got it at a really good price that I could not pass up. I had to drive to Ohio to get it, which is a 8.5 hour drive one way, but it was worth it.

The car came from the factory with 16" ninja rims, but the guy I bought it from had those on his shadow and I couldn't afford to buy them from him. I have the 16" pumpers from my 89 shelby that I am going to put on this car as soon as I can buy rubber for them. So I have to live with these 15" shadow steelies and hubcaps.

I was looking at the owners manual of this car and stamped on the back was Chrysler's stamp that said it was owned by them and was used in thier fleet. I think that is pretty cool. One of these days I'll have to get a carfax report done.

I have been working on my new car. On my way home from picking up the car in Ohio, the timing belt jumped and stripped out. It died while cruising 75 up I90 north of chicago, about 2.5 hrs from home. Luckly my uncle has a place about 20 minutes from where it died. It cost me 100 bucks to get it towed to my uncle's place. There it sat for three weeks before me and my brother-in-law hauled it home. I replaced the timing belt and it started right up.

The car has alot of noise in the front end. I figured out where most of the noise was coming from, the passenger side ball joint was in real bad shape. 40 bucks later and alot of cusing, it was replaced and most of the noise was gone.

It still needs work in the front, the drivers side strut is worn out and it still makes noises in the front end. I hope to get back to putting my rear end in my project car soon.
