About Logan Gabriel, guitarist/composer: Logan was born in New Hampshire in 1973. He began playing classical guitar at the age of eight with a guitar his parents purchased for him at a yard sale. At the age of 15 was bitten by the rock-and-roll bug and began studying electric guitar. At the age of 17 he was re-introduced to the classical style with the recordings of Segovia, Bream, and Williams. Consequently, he sold all of his electric guitar equipment, bought a nylon string guitar and began to study the classical style once again. Since Logan did not know of any local teachers, he bought as many books on the subject as he could find and began teaching himself. After several Years Logan entered Keene State College as a Music Major. He studied Guitar with Jose Lezcano, and Ted Mann. During his college years, Logan distinguished himself by winning a scholarship and second prize in the Hilderbrandt Award, Top Prize in The Concerto Aria Competition, and having many of his compositions performed. Logan has studied Privately with Benjamin Verdery, Frank Wallace, and Berit Strong. He has performed in master classes for: Paul Galbraith, Everton Gloedon, Lily Afshar, Antigoni Goni, and William Feasely. Logan teaches at the Manchester Community Music School in Manchester NH, and the Pine Hill School in Wilton, NH. He lives in Nashua New Hampshire with his wife and their two children.
Rebecca Jeffreys, Marjorie Bollinger Hogan and Elise MacDonald collaborate to form this unique trio. Drawing from all of their talents, the trio incorporates concert flute, alto flute, bass flute and piccolo to produce a haunting and beautiful sonority. They draw their musical selections from around the world including composers such as Tcherepnin, Casterede, McKay, classical transcriptions and contemporary composers like Catherine McMichael. Elise MacDonald: In 1990, Elise received a Bachelor's in Music Education from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. During her studies at Berklee, she continued playing flute while adding saxophone and fretless electric bass to her menagerie of instruments. In 1997, Elise moved to Peterborough, NH and opened Two Rivers Music Studios, a small community music school offering private instruction on most orchestral instruments, piano, voice, and classical guitar. In 1999, Elise accepted a position as Director of Bands at Pine Hill Waldorf School in Wilton, NH, where she conducted two middle school concert bands. In 2000, she began to work part-time at Pine Hill's neighbor, High Mowing School (a private boarding/day high school with an enrollment of 120 students.
Marjorie Bollinger Hogan holds a Master of Music in Flute from the Hartt School and a BA from the University of South Florida. She won third prize in the Florida Flute Association’s Young Artist competition in 1987. Her teachers include John Wion, Martha Rearick, and Geoffrey Gilbert. Marjorie has directed the Merrimack Valley Flute Choir since 1997. She teaches flute privately in Nashua and is currently Principal Flute of the Merrimack Valley Symphony. |
