Bible Verses

Job 34:1-4 (ESV) Then Elihu answered and said: (2) "Hear my words, you wise men, and give ear to me, you who know; (3) for the ear tests words as the palate tastes food. (4) Let us choose what is right; let us know among ourselves what is good.

Acts 17: 11 (NIV) 11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

The bible is written in a way that anyone can learn God's word, we should study it ourselves and know what is good without requiring input from outside sources. God will put the people or books with the answers you seek before you, some of the bible requires this to understand, but you also need to do as the Bereans did and study the Scriptures to verify that what these outside sources say is correct. If something deviates from Scripture it is wrong and should be disregarded.
Isa 29:13-14 (ESV) And the Lord said: "Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, (14) therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden."

I believe many (not all) modern day church goers are who God is speaking to in this verse. I pray that any who read this site or my other site will stop honoring only with their lips and take God in their hearts. Reading and understanding the verses from John above will help you in this. To truly love everyone, including your enemies shows that God is in your heart and not just on your lips Sunday morning.
I understand that Jesus quoted this first verse when talking to the Pharisees, but no one said a prophecy can't be filled twice.

Mat 7:21-23 (ESV) "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' (23) And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

These verses tell me that in the final years before Christ return people will be prophesying, healing and banishing demons in the name of the Jesus, but they don't follow the commands of Jesus or the Father in heaven so they are not in Jesus' love(John 15:10)and will not go to heaven. I think that the ones you see on TV smacking people on the head shouting, 'You are healed' will be among these who will be left out.

When we are taught to once again heal with the touch of a hand, we need to be sure we do it to glorify God and Jesus, not ourselves.

1 Thess 4:10-12 (ESV) for that indeed is what you are doing to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to do this more and more, (11) and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, (12) so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.

Isa 65:21-23 (ESV) They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. (22) They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat; for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. (23) They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the LORD, and their descendants with them.

Looking at these verses brings a light to the problem in modern society. We labor away at work for money that we spend on someone else's harvest, when we should be at home growing our own food. Being independent today does not mean what it did before Jesus. Just think of how many people you depend on each day to be "independent". You go to a store to get milk, eggs, meat, fruit, and vegetables. You think that you earned your money so buying this stuff at the store is being independent, but who grew that food, if they stopped supplying the store what would you do? If the oilers and fuel refiners stopped doing their job, how would you even get to the store to shop in the first place? When your car breaks down, even those of you who fix it yourselves in your garage, you don't fabricate the parts yourself, someone else is needed to do it, and you just get them at an auto parts store. No, in today's world we depend on so may people on a daily basis that very few know what it means to truly work with their hands.
