Census Records

I have copies of quite a few census records relating to our families. I hope to transcribe many of them and publish them on this site. The earliest records I plan to transcribe are from 1850. That was the first year where every person in the household was listed. At least for me, data earlier than that is often hard to verify because the only name you have for sure is the head of the family.

Most other sites that I have seen that say they have census records only show one family. I plan to do at least a whole page at a time so more people can find information and learn about their ancestors and the places where they lived. In some instances this will give only a partial listing for unrelated families at the top or bottom of a page. I apologize for any problem this gives anyone looking at these records, but the only alternative is to have a complete record of the entire township for that year. Although I do have that for some towns in certain years, it is just not feasible to do for every township that I had ancestors in for every census year.

I also apologize for any glaring spelling errors I may have committed while transcribing this data. Many of these names are no longer in common usage and/or may be illegible on the original form. Plus, based on the knowledge I have of my own families, I know there are typographical errors in the original data. I am doing my best to get the names close to the way they appear and to reproduce the data as closely as possible to the original versions, with no errors corrected. If things do not look exactly as you expect, that is probably why.

If you have comments or corrections that you would like to share, send me an email. However, Please Do Not Contact Me with queries about these families. Some of the families in this data are ancestors of ours, but many are not. For the families that I do know something about, I have included a few notes throughout the pages. The rest are just names on a page and I will not be able to offer any help.

1850 Avon, Wisconsin  Five consecutive generations of my family have been born in Rock County, Wisconsin. Avon is where it all started. The Sill's were not there yet, but Nelson's uncle John McNitt was and so was his future wife, Charlotte Emily Harper.

Other 1850 Census Records  Sill, Brown, Kuntzelman, Drew, Bentley, Dustin, and  Hewitt. No Weibel ancestors. They were all still in Europe.
