Welcome to John and Cathy Sill's Genealogy Pages

Note: The information included on these pages is correct to the best of my knowledge. It has been compiled from family history books, records on microfilm, cemetery searches and internet searches. Much of it has not yet been verified. It is presented "as is." If you find errors or omissions please let me know so they can be corrected. Thanks.  John

"My family is American, and has been for generations."
Ulysses S. Grant, 1885

"Ditto"
John R. Sill, 2003

When I first became interested in genealogy, I had only a vague idea of where my family had come from and when. I certainly would not have believed that I could "ditto" the quote from President Grant. However, I have learned that Cathy's family has been in America since the 1800's and most of the branches of my family have been in America since the 1600's.

"Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality."
From Life's Little Instruction Book, H. Jackson Brown Jr.

It has always been my opinion that genealogy research is not only about searching out and finding information. The most important aspect is sharing the information with your family once you have found it. I don't know if this will allow me to achieve immortality, but I have created the following pages as a way to share what I have learned about our ancestors. During the last few years I have gone to cemeteries, spun my way through rolls of microfilm, read books, and searched online for information about my ancestors. However, my favorite part of genealogy is the people I have met. I have met relatives in person and online that I never knew existed. So many people have been so kind to me in regards to sharing information and pictures that I can't possibly begin to name them all here. The best way I can think of to say "Thank You!" to the people who have helped me is to share with others what has been shared with me.
