I was born in Beloit, Wisconsin in 1964. My family lived near South Beloit,
Illinois, where I attended Prairie Hill School from kindergarten through seventh
grade. I was in Cub Scouts, played softball, and collected beer cans with my
friend Steve. In 1977 we moved to Sextonville, Wisconsin. My main activity there was
hanging out at my friend Dave's house. They had cable TV and Dave's mom, Mrs.
C., always had cookies around for us to eat. After high school, I attended UW Center Richland
where I played intramural football and worked as a math tutor. I then transferred to UW LaCrosse
where my favorite activity was "Happy Hour" every Friday at the Jack of Diamonds
bar on Third Street..
While in college I made many great friends, drank many cheap beers, and managed to
graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology. Before getting my first
"professional" job, I had many other jobs including farm
work, working at a car wash, flipping burgers at a bar/restaurant, and cooking
chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I have worked as an
analytical chemist since 1989 and am currently employed as a Senior Chemist for
the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer
Protection.
I met Cathy Weibel while working at KFC in LaCrosse,
Wisconsin. We were married in 1990. We lived near South Beloit, Illinois for a
few years then moved to Newville,
Wisconsin in 1993. We still live there with our sons Matthew and Aaron
and our dog Casey.
Interests of mine include genealogy, photography, web page design, reading
suspense and science fiction/fantasy novels, comics, Looney Tunes cartoons, gardening, bird feeding and watching, listening to classic rock music, watching the Chicago Cubs try to win a pennant (maybe next
year), watching the Miami Dolphins try to win a Super Bowl (again, maybe next
year) and organoleptic testing of malt beverages (or more simply, beer
drinking). I have also served on the church council of Trinity Lutheran Church, and
helped coach my son's T-ball, minor league, and little league teams.
Here are links to a few other pages I have made:

John's Beer Links
Support your local brewery!
Most of these are in Wisconsin, but sometimes I've just gotta have a
brew from out of state. |
John's Music Links
There are
many more great bands, but I have to stop somewhere. |
John's Book Links
I've read a lot of books. These are some of my favorite authors and
