On our first trip, our main destination was Trego, MT, for my friend Wendi Mee's wedding to Justin McNeil. We started from Sandy's house in Minneapolis, MN, and from there drove across North Dakota to Missoula, MT, where we met up with Wendi. We drove up to Trego for the wedding, made a detour to British Columbia for five minutes just to say we've been to Canada, then drove down through Billings to Yellowstone. We were able to jump over to Idaho from West Yellowstone where we camped a night, and then drove across Wyoming, South Dakota, nicked Iowa and then north back to Minneapolis.

Our first stop was the giant Buffalo in Jamestown, ND. There's a ghost town sort of a thing there, and we found this ass' ass! What a treat, since ass is our favorite word.

Next stop, the giant cow in New Salem, ND. "Hi, Salem Sue!"
I visited this same cow when I was 5 1/2. My dad's parents drove out to my house in New Hope, MN, from Sydney, MT, and picked up my brother Matt and me. We stayed with them in Sydney for a week, I think, but on the way up we stopped to visit Salem Sue. I remember there was a piece of red candy in one of the udders, but it was gone when I was there with Sandy; imagine that! Anyway, here's my brother and me visiting Salem Sue in 1979.
