Cedar Lake Summary August 6, 2005 We’re halfway home in this two man horse race, men. After three tournaments, the good, the bad, and the ugly, aka the two Steinbauers (you attach the monikers where you wish) are making a mockery of the 2005 Mr. Bass race. And if there’s one thing we don’t like in Snatcherdom, it’s mockery making. Anyway, Cedar. While Peter and Paul nearly peed their pants while in piscatorial pursuit of their prey, perch, perhaps, first place went to that spot stealing, fish filching, point pouncing, moderately good Steinbauer, Nate. Nate’s bag of six weighed 13-5 and included the tourney lunker of 4-9. Nate allegedly caught his fish on a puke tube on a Big John jig in 16’ 3” of water, all on his dad’s spots, after his dad had fished them. Nate reports having caught eight fish for the day. Second went to Mark Munson, a man so boring I can’t even make fun of him. His bag weighed 12-12 which is pretty reMARKable considering he could only catch five fish. Mark caught his fish on black/blue jigs on the inside weedline in Sunset Bay. I believe his fish were caught on Dennis’ spots. Which reminds me. You morons go out and prefish like gas costs fifty cents a gallon. Why the hell doesn’t anyone fish their own spots¿ Third place went to the Beckmeister with six fish weighing 12-12. He got hosed out of second because Marky had the bigger lunker. We all feel for you, Chuck. Chas figures he caught 10-12 fish and ended up keeping four dock fish and three deep fish (his words not mine, you do the math). His fish were caught on black/blue jigs and were caught in Checkbook’s spots. Nicely done men. And I mean that. Really. Jerks.

(Or musings as I watched the perseid meteor shower pummel small planets while teeny tiny little aliens cried for help.)
RE: The Cullen Lake newsletter. Did anybody notice that Tony Bauer and Roger Ubl were partners on Cedar and when it came time to load, Eddie stood and watched while Della backed Rog’s trailer down? A 5-8 on Washburn will be worth $560 if you’re in the big bass pot. How many men does it take to open a beer? None. It should be open by the time she brings it. Another possibility for Dolt-of-the-Year, although it probably relates more to Washburn. I’m out there on Sunday afternoon and Checkbook pulls up and proceeds to tell me that he just fell in. “What happened?”, I ask. The response is that he was fishing docks and came in too hot towards one, rams it, and lost his balance into the lake. Now, this is Checkbook and this is not dolt-of-the-year stuff. I mean, we expect this stuff out of him. Ho-hum. What struck me as odd is that he went out of his way to tell someone about it. Nuttin else gnu, men. See you at 7:28 Saturday morning. Swanny, just so you don’t get your panties in a bunch, I have a lot of re-tying to do at that time so just relax. Miles, give your old man a few pointers before you let him on the water again. Don’t you get tired of having to wear a bag over your head to avoid detection whenever you’re with him?
