Cullen Lake Summary June 5, 2005 And top of the morning to all. It’s good to see some things never change. Charles P. picked up this year just where he left off last year by winning our initial 2005 tournament. Charlie had a nice limit that weighed 13-8 and to put his bag into perspective, my bunkie for the day, Mark Munson, had a limit that weighed 6-2. His lunker was 1-4 so his remaining five fish weighed 4-14. And he culled up to get there! Anyway, Beck started on the lower lake in shallow reeds, immediately caught a 14 ounce 12 incher and said that now famous line, “Bullshit”, and headed for the upper lake. He caught his fish in the “Ruff Cut” on dark green and black scum bags. The location of the “Ruff Cut” will cost you a beer. Rice and/or pads were involved. Second place went to Bill Bailey with a limit weighing 12-3, two Munson fish behind Chas. Bill caught his fish in the middle lake. Five of his fish were caught on scum bags and his lunker came on an unweighted Senko halfway down the north-south point extending down from the north shore about half way. He’ll give you GPS coordinates if you wish. Third place went to Tom “The Tycoon” Swanson with a limit weighing 11-14 including the tournament lunker at 4-4. Actually, if you factor out the lunker from his bag, Swanny had the same shit most of the rest of us had. My understanding of the situation is that his Bunkie, Ghee, pointed that out and was treated with disdain. Anyway, Swanny caught his fish in the upper lake, primarily casting to shadows that Ghee couldn’t discern. He caught one on a spinnerbait, two on a tube, one on a Senko, and two on a large black/blue jig. He also lost a three. Congrats to all from those of us that sucked. ________________ There is apparently some controversy regarding Swanny’s third place finish on Cullen. Swanny was found in possession of a Whizzinator after the tournament. Now tournament officials Beck and Herman need to determine if Swanny had the device to mask his indulgence of performance enhancing drugs or if was just a little something between for him and Ghee to mess around with when the fishing slowed. We’ll keep you posted. Not much for Dolt-of-the-Year. The only one close might be Roger Ubl, a man who has spent more miles backing a trailer than many of us have driven forward. Roger, as a courtesy to new member Tony Bauer, offered to back Tony’s rig in the water and managed to put Tony’s tail light up on the dock. Welcome to the club Tony. You will learn with time that if you need your trailer backed up, you ask Roger’s wife Della. This is hardly “Dolt” fodder, and Bob Dole may think you are a doofus, but I don’t think this will hold. Ghee wanted to enter Swanny after Swanny’s navigational skills trying to direct them into the upper lake got them grounded but it’s too weak. Big bass update. I have received full payment from the following: Beck, Dennis, Bill L, Bill B., Nate, Ruff, Herman, Ghee, Munson, Mowers, Kiefer, and D Johanson (explain how this works to your brother). My books balance so see me before blast-off if you want to jump in. A couple of were paid thru last year. As of right now, a winner will take home $275. I have spent the past two days at Cultural Diversity training so you can expect a kinder, gentler, more understanding me in the future. See you morons on Sunday. All my like, Ruff
