Le Homme Dieu Tournament Report

1st Place Mark Munson with 14-10-  The day started out very well for Mark when he caught the 4-8 tournament Lunker on the very first cast.  Mark was fishing in Lake Darling and he got a pretty good limit quickly by throwing a black and blue jig on a weedline.  Mark said there were a few other club boats fishing the same general area.  Later in the day he culled a few fish fishing docks with a Standing Yabbie.

Key- Finding a good school with quality fish during his pre-fish.

2nd Place Dennis Lothspeich with 13-4-  The day for Dennis didn’t start out nearly so well as the big fish he found in Lake Alvin in pre-fish had disappeared. After a fruitless first hour Dennis headed to a spot Guy Henkensiefken had found in Le Homme Dieu.  Guy was unable to fish due to an unfortunate waterskiing injury suffered while on family vacation at Le Homme Dieu.  Guy said the spot held a “super school.”  I would say within 45 minutes of arriving on the spot Dennis had his limit on a crawtube.  Dennis switched to a color Bill Ludenia told him was good and got his biggest fish of the day (3-13) on his very first cast with that color.  Dennis culled up a couple of fish on his own spots and also got one off a dock in Alvin.

Key- Getting to fish Guy’s super school.

3rd Place Darren Kiefer with 12-00 Darren didn’t pre-fish and had no experience on the Chain, but got a good partner draw in Chuck Johansen who does have experience there.  Darren and Chuck fished in Lake Darling all day hitting weedlines, docks, and little reed patches.  Darren got his biggest fish (4-03) off a reed patch with a black and blue jig.  Darren said he didn’t catch a lot of fish, but obviously he found some size.

Key- Drawing Chuck Johansen for a partner.
