Thought I forgot, didn’t you? Our bi-annual North Long tourney is history and made history as all competitors caught a limit of fish. Leading the way was Chuck Steinbauer with a bag weighing 14-14. Chas’ strategy was to drill holes in the ice about ten feet apart and covering depths from six to twenty feet. He made use of all the lake weighing in 3 fish from the Merrifield end, two from the big lake, and one, the lunker for the tournament, from 371 bay. Beck estimates he caught about 30 keepers, most of them on spinnerbaits but some bigger fish on jigs. Second place went to my man, and in the running for the Ricky Retardo award, Swanny with a bag weighing 14-07. Very quickly, here is a man with On-Star in his rig and locked his keys in it because he didn’t have the phone number. A man with back-up alarms on same-said vehicle that alerts you if you are about to run over something, who backed into something. But I digress. He can’t drive worth a shit but he can sure catch fish. He figures he caught 35-40 keepers, mostly deep, on tubes, jig-craws (green, puke, and black/blue), and pussy rig, all in the Merrifield end. Third place went to the Snatcher version of Julio Franco (Swanny, Beck, and Berghuis know, the rest of you can look it up) Roger Ubl, fresh off of successful addadicktomy surgery. Rog fished his own spots, telling partner Dennis to, “stick it and spin” when Dennis tried to get him to move elsewhere and bagged 13-15 pounds of fish. Rog’s fish, including a hairlip, came on Wiggle Warts, Fat Raps, and swim jigs, in white, blue and chartreuse, while facing SSW with one shoe untied and one pant leg cut off. Roger figures he only caught eight keepers. Special note of congrats out to Dennis, 2006 Mr. Bass, who put together a helluva season and became one of only 23 multiple winners of the award in Snatcher history. Actually, he is one of very few to have won as much as he has. I don’t know the exact numbers but I’m sure he does and will be more than happy to share them with you should you actually give a shit.
SHORTS!!!
The big bass pot will start the year with $240. If you weren’t paid thru 2006, you can jump in for a mere $45 to cover you for 2007. The rest of you bastards owe me $30. I have the following paid thru last year: Adam H, Ghee, Dennis, Bill L, Ruff, Steinbauer X 2, Swanny, Kiefer, Johanson X 2, Mahady, Mowers, Munson, Bailey, and Bauer. This is void where prohibited by law. And what’s up with that dumb broad Persephone eating those pomegranate seeds? Hades sure was a trickster, wasn’t he? Who put the bomp in the bomp bah bomp bah bomp. Who put the ram in the rama lama ding dong. How about the bop in the bop shoo bop shoo bop? The dip in the dip da dip da dip? Dolt-of-the year didn’t really come to the forefront this past year. Checkbook gets a lifetime achievement award and is about to become an adjective. Swanny’s pretty good but the rest of you better step it up this year. My work here is done, men. Another successful season has come and gone. As usual, the cream rose to the top and the rest of us are 2%. Like, Ruff |
